The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

goes the clock, we laughed at fate and mourned her, tick tock goes the clock even for the monster

It surprised the Monster when she watched the yearling throw herself off the ledge and land in the pool below. The girl was lucky that the pool was deep, deep enough where she did not smash her bones and break anything from impact. Sapphire eyes watched as the yearling began to climb up the winding small pathway heading back towards the entrance of the cave. The girl would have quite a journey, the winding pathway quite along trail upwards for a little one. A tattered ear twitched as she looked to the entrance of the cave. A frown appeared on her bloodstained lips when she noticed that the entrance of the cave was ruined. All that rock shifting formation caused by Riven, and herself, had caused the mouth of the cave to collapse on itself. Seeing how it wasn’t her concern, she would head down her own pathway, eager to continue her adventure, and find a new exit, but she was halted by the ghostly figure slowly climbing up the pathway at the opposite end. For some reason a part of her felt that she should stop her, keep her from wasting her time. Growling softly, she turned around and leapt to the other side of the ledge, the same pathway the girl was climbing. She would sit on the top, waiting, watching, her black tail swaying back and forth in annoyance, slamming her tail against the ground. As soon as the girl reached the top she would get on her own four paws and slowly walk towards the yearling.

“You cannot leave…the rocks blocked the entrance.”

She would turn around and look at what was once the entrance to the cave. Giant rocks sat on top of one another, nothing of the outside world could be seen. Not a single crack showed the moonlight’s silvery rays. Turning her dial down she would turn around heading towards the pathway that the yearling came up from, but she would put a paw on the girl’s back and gently shove her down the path. Another growl escaped her bloodstained lips, those same lips rising slightly to show teeth, giving the girl a forceful aggressive look. She was in no mood for back talk or for the pup to ignore her subtle request- to go back down the pathway and follow her. As soon as the yearling went back down the pathway, she would follow her down. As soon as they reached the bottom, she would lift her head catching a familiar scent. There was a growl rumbling from her stomach. Eyeing the pool she went still when she noticed a flicker of movement from the surface. Looking down at the yearling, she would lower head face close to the pups, her cold voice hissing softly.

“There is fish…I am going to eat…and then we leave the caves. Maybe I’ll give you a food if you don’t bother me. ”

A low growl would come out of her scarred maw as she lifted her ebony cranium, a caveat for the girl to stay away, as she eagerly began the process of fishing. She could always use a quick meal before she figured out a way out of the cave, and back towards Diveen with a full stomach. Hopefully, this little detour wouldn’t set her back, she had to be back in the cave before Meryl made his rounds. Walking purposely towards the edge of the deep pool she would stand and wait. When she noticed a flicker of movement she rammed her head into the water, jaws wide open as she caught a fish in her mouth, clamping tightly as the wiggling fish stopped moving. Sitting down against the bank, she dropped the fish, placing one paw over the dead fish as she laid herself back down on the ground. Sapphire eyes would look to the yearling, as she slowly ate her meal, content to fill her stomach, before she continued this odd journey.
