It wasn't fair, not really! She'd been taken off guard, and even though she knew that'd be an ever present possibility, she didn't want to think that she'd fall for it. It was a good learning experience though, even if she couldn't exactly see that lesson immediately. When it came to wolves like her - thin and fast - they had to rely on their speed and distance, not brute strength. Really, Sinclair was in his element and she had been foolish enough to not consider it. All she could do was try and get herself out of the position, but it seemed even her more futile attempts didn't seem to even dent Sinclair's will.
When she went for the paw, she felt a burst of reassurance - she was totally going to break free and kick some butt! And yet, she found that he simply leaned his weight into the leg, keeping himself well and truly balanced. Soon enough, he was right in her face too and she knew what that meant - she'd messed up. If this had been a real fight, he could have easily have gone right for her neck. Reluctantly, she withdrew, bumping her nose against his with a dissatisfied huff.
"I'll get you next time!"
She rose a paw then to playfully swat at his muzzle, throwing a glance to her father with her ears back - sheepish and just a little bit embarrassed. She waved her tail nervously, flashing an awkward grin before she called out. She didn't really want to do it but, well, she couldn't see any way of getting out of it! She needed a reset button.
"He's won, father! He's got me real good."
She turned back to Sinclair then, still on her back as she flashed him an almost adoring grin. How'd he manage to it? She was always so good at getting him when they were playing? Why was she so nervous about it this time? At least now, she figured, she knew what to expect next time, just like he knew what worked now. Is that all fighting was? Learning to predict others and then counter acting it? It just seemed so... time consuming and repetitive!
"I think I've got some practicing to do..."
She flashed another guilty grin, swatting once more at him before she twisted and squirmed, wriggling out from beneath him awkwardly. It would have been much more embarrassing and degrading if he had to let her out from beneath him... she wasn't quite ready to be that shamed. Once she was out, she rolled onto her belly with a sigh, remaining there and resting her head on top of her paws, staring up at Sinclair. Honestly, she was waiting for her father to berate her, but instead, it didn't come. It seemed he was more interested in mulling over their little conflict for the time being, giving her a moment to flash Sinclair a giddy grin.
"You know... you'd make a good warrior, Sin! Wanna' teach me how to be good? Apparently I'm not as good as I thought..."
