Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
I could be a shadow
IP: 24.27.101.126

I am still lost, even in my new home. I am without my soul and my light, devoid of all feelings. The world had become a place of images and urges. Urges to consume for I had to live to see her, to breathe so I could see her. I had tried to search for her, tried to find her but I knew it was lost. To stay too far one way could prove to be going only further away. I knew I had to go where she wished to go, that we would meet up there. Maybe she had needed to take care of something with Mortz. Maybe...maybe a lot of things. I can hardly think of why and how, all I knew was that she was not here...that I must be patient.

I had gone past the pack lands often, searching for any sign of her scent upon the land. I search alone, avoiding the presence of others. I walk in the shadows of the trees, becoming one with my dark frame. I am as a liquid, blending in and morphing with them. I am an extension of their very existence, and I move like an unknown entity when I am among them. I use them to search for her, to take cover from the evils of the world. To remain hidden, only to expose myself to the light that I crave with every bit of my essence, but it isn't the light of the sun. It is the light of my soul.

I stir from my resting spot. The dark world of my dreams fade and bleed into the reality so empty, so cruel. I have no lived here long, Taviora, but I have yet to feel threatened by the pack members themselves. Their visitors? Well.. I didn't want to think of the black beast that took my ear. I stretched, my long limbs feeling the relief it brings. I am hindered by the feeling of sleep still littering my body, and yet I feel a sudden urge to get up..and quickly. I do not know why. I simply know that my body tightens as I lift myself, sticking my shadow of a head out to observe the silent images of the world. My nose sniffs the cold winter air, snow fallen fresh before me. I blink my golden eye a few times, adjusting to the light. Today feels different, my urge to move inside of me growing.

I always check the borders. Always. Every day, even if I am terrified of the prospect of evils coming to rip away a limb or my very heart. I must be there when she comes, for I know she will come. I have to believe, for it is all I have. Quickly I sprint away from my den, my head low and body curled like that of an omega. My dark grey paws fall into the snow, heading towards the border to start my morning rounds.

Yet today is still different, for my urge seems to get stronger with each step towards the border. My heart begins to pump like I have been running for ages. My thin body feels like shaking, my very being just wishing it didn't take so long to reach the edge. I lick my lips, warily looking back and forth in this early morning for peering eyes or screams of devils. It doesn't matter today though, as my paws cold rush faster into a sprint. I would take on any of the demons this day, any of the fangs that wish to rip me limb from limb, if only I could check the border. I feel my breath sharp and harsh as I weave through the trees, reaching the border with much anticipation.

I do admit that I am often this tense when I check everyday. I am endlessly hopeful, hopeless for my light to return. I do not expect anything different, I expect the worst and yet hope for the best. Yes, I hope. I hope as my nose sticks to the white fluff, ignoring the cold as I begin to track along the border near Spirane. I trot through the snow, crunching it below my paws as I move at a moderate pace. I am diligent with my check, sniffing every tree, every leaf that pops up from the winter snow. I check and I check, and I check some more, that is until I see movement up ahead.

Initially, I feel tense, a panic arise in my throat as I freeze in place. It is hard for me to see, hard for me to focus in on who or what that is ahead. I squint my eyes, hoping to focus but the morning light on the snow reflects, yellow orange glory blinding as I attempt to adjust, to see who it is far off and to know if I should run...or, or if it is my light.

It feels like forever as I stand with one paw lifted, frozen in time and space as my heart feels as if it stops. There is the slightest movement, with the bright light adjusting from its blinding, beautiful state to reveal who stands before me, yet so far away. My jaw drops slightly, and the image before me is nothing short of perfect. I wonder if the fates are being cruel, if my mind has slowly withered to insanity and that she is not there. I step forward once, a whine dripping from my mouth. To know she is real, I must go, and even still, I am being pulled in.

I yip, my voice shaking as I rush forward. She does not disappear, does not melt into the shadows like many beasts in my mind. I do not stop until I am right before her, seeing her and smelling her like never before. My tail was, my heart sings, and I wish only to dive into her fur. Yet I do not, I simply stand before her, my withered body of black and grey trembling with joy, hunched over in a submissive state. I dare not disrespect her with touch, but to wait...wait to let her touch me, and that is how...that is how I will know she is real, as whines still escape my lips in anticipation.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
