Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Cobwebs and skulls started to twist into existence inside Nakki’s dark dreams as she sighed into a light doze. Her ear and nose twitched in recognition of a wolf’s presence, but her mind protested the interruption and purple shadow with silver eyes curled into the form of a young she-wolf caught amongst the carnage. ‘I presume you’re not dead?’ The smoky wolf asked. ‘I don’t know. I’m not feeling alive…’ Dream-Näkki responded as the Reality-Näkki’s instincts stirred and her physical ears twitched at the question.

Her metallic pink eyes slowly blinked as the black pupil slowly stirred and adjusted to the light of reality. Näkki’s brow furrowed in annoyance as her dulled eyes focused upon the young female standing at the bottom of her boulder. Hello purple shadow, Näkki sighed as she rolled onto her stomach with heavy effort. This wolf had metallic green eyes. Oh wait… hazel? Näkki titled her head slowly to the side, trying to glimpse again the gray in her eyes. She wondered, could she reveal the shadow with silver eyes in this pup?

“I’m sure I don’t know, cousin. What’s wrong with you?” Näkki answered.

She didn’t mirror the curiosity shown towards her, but neither was she hostile. Her eyes were simply dull, or glazed, as if she might be in a waking dream. They drifted over the smaller wolf’s form with no true point of focus. There was something hidden there, perhaps it was only dust. Näkki lowered head to her paws and yawned. If there was, then she was currently unmotivated to attempt active detective work. Besides… she’d need a blood drop to taste, and she doubted very much that it would be acceptable behavior in conversation to ask for blood like some crazy vampire. Or maybe… it was? Perhaps if she felt so inspired, she’d try to freak out the tiny wolf.

Part of her mind woke up then, but Näkki was awfully comfortable atop the gray stone. Besides, she felt mighty up here looking down at the form of the brown cinnamon swirl cake that addressed her. Näkki’s mouth salivated for a moment, picturing the mushy red treat, but her vision dissipated quickly with the disappointed realization that this tasty treat had legs. She was in the mood for an easy meal because she wasn’t hungry enough to chase her own food down and because if she moved, she’d have to warm up her snoozing spot. That certainly wouldn’t do.
