Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
Mischief Unmanaged
IP: 12.231.36.2

The look Heyel gives me as Zelly butchers his name does not go unmissed but I give him a grimace as if remind him of patience, that virtue he seems to be missing. Just as she is having trouble saying his name, he seems to be doing the same to hers so how can I get onto her unless he tries harder? I swear, it's like he likes getting into it with youngsters. He turns back to her, telling her that she can manage his name if she tries though I can catch the tone of sarcasm beneath it like he thinks she's doing it on purpose. He may be right but what kind of parent would I be to not have some faith in my own children?

He does not seem fond of my teasing words about his battles, bringing up the herbs I gave him as drugs as if i'm some kind of addict. My eyes narrow scoldingly at him now, just as if he were a child himself. Now really? Did he have to stoop so low as to make my children think I'm some kind of addict? Now what if they bring that to Coza and he thinks I need to get help or something? But Heyel never thinks of these things. My lips flatten as I reply in a harder tone, as if telling him to watch it.

"If you're referring to the day I gave you herbs to numb the pain and you took too many, maybe you should be the one reconciling with your past. I tended to your wounds on more than one occasion....darling."

The last word rolls off my tongue with a bit of acid in it. Not like me like he's stepping on a fine line with this whole challenge thing. It's one thing to joke about it in private but a whole other matter to talk abou it like its a bad thing in front of my children. I've never tried to talk him down in front of his own children. He seems even more grumpy after Dexter speaks and while I try to manage my own children by giving Dexter a look, Heyel sees fit to rise to the challenge anyone, calling my son something in Latin. I cannot understand that language either but I'm sure it's nothing good. I scowl in his direction, my eyes practically shooting flames by this point. He sees fit to swat his tail and look every bit like a ruffled prince as he asks me if there's anymore. I speak to him in sarcastic tones now.

"Oh, you mean my oldest, Amoxtli? Don't worry, he's too mature to join in your game of insults and name calling. I guess some children never grow up. Mine have an excuse for their fun and games, what's yours?"

Okay, so it came out a little harsh but I never expected to have to play referee between my own children and my dear friend. When did our joking become so serious? Maybe introducing him to them was a bad idea after all. My protective motherly instincts are kicking into overdrive and I swear I'm going to have to keep it from coming to violence soon. Meanwhile the children are simply egging it on. Zelly giggles at Dexter and seems more revved up to have some back up. She grins up at me with triumph shining in her eyes and I do my best to give a look that says clearly that I'm not impressed. She seems confused when heyel talks about drugs but I'm sure she'll understand more when I correct Heyel about the herbs. She's been shadowing me a lot and learning about herbs herself. I glance back at her when she talks to Dexter, using that infernal language again. I swear I'm going to have to forbid Coza from teaching them anymore Nahuatl. She smiles up innocently at Heyel and I eye her and my son both, wondering what they have up their sleeves.

Dexter seems cold and calm through it all, not a muscle twitching on his body as he eyes up Heyel every bit like he's eying a challenger, or a prey animal. When did my son get such a cold look on his face? My skin shivers at the thought. When he calls Dexter a name, my son simply smirks.

"Naw, I like mine better, but thanks anyway."

He shrugs it off like Heyel offered him a blade of grass or something. My ears flicker uncertainly, not sure what's going to happen next. When Zelly speaks to him, Dexter nods in agreement, my eyes narrowing more at both of them. When she speaks a question and looks back at Heyel, Dexter's eyes narrow as if considering before he smirks.

(We could mess up his white fur.)

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
