Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

yoska.

There truly was nothing better than laying by the chest of his mother, splayed out so that he might feel the thudding of her heart against his own. It was her voice to him, the sensation that let him know she was there and when she was not, he often awoke confused by it all. Thankfully, his sister was seldom far from him and each day, he grew more and more aware of how lucky he was to have her. Like his mother, she provided him with warmth, comfort and yet, she also provided his active mind with fascination and awe. In fact, he had awoken at some point during the night and had shifted closer to her, nestling in against her, feeling the rise and fall of her chest beside him.

Then, she roused him come the first light, the sun reddening the backs of his eyelids just moments before. He had grown accustomed to her particular way of waking - she moved a certain way, her paws felt a certain way and she would always smell and look the same to him. Now, he no longer needed to worry about waking up with the feeling of fleeing. Instead, he merely rolled onto his paws and yawned, shaking his dark fur free of dirt in preparation to, well, cover it with dirt and twigs once more. He knew the reason his sister woke him for and he was excited all the same; so long had he spent staring up into the space above them, fixated on all the possibilities that lay out there. His mind was a world of imagination, colours and lights flashing behind his eyes as he slept. He wanted to see them all up close though, and feel the songs they sang.

Stretching out, he huffed once before grinning up at his sister, head cocked and tail waving eagerly. He understood one thing of the world, already, and it was something that he hardly cared for: apparently, others could understand part of the world that he could not. At times, his mother's mouth moved in peculiar ways and yet, nothing came of it. What he had pieced together was that they could understand the way the wind moved over her teeth and tongue - he had tried to mimic it, moving his mouth and blowing air through his throat. They were rasping sounds, not yet words and yet, it was a taxing practice. He simply wished to be able to feel the sounds, feel what it felt like when his mother controlled the air. Tuari couldn't either and that made him feel less powerless.

As she crawled from the den, he followed closely, though slower always. It seemed when he moved, his mother would react and yet, he found the slower and more careful he was, the less she did. With each step, he turned back to watch her, expecting her head to raise or an eye to peer up. So far, it worked and with a devilish smirk, he leaped from the den's mouth. Instantly, he felt the wind blow through his fur, running lines across his skin. As Tuari bounded ahead, he took a moment to simply enjoy the sensation, the gentlest bite of cold playing across his flesh. It was a beautiful thing, and he yipped in excitement, swatting at the currents that swelled around him. Above him, he could see the shades of blue and white drift on and on, the brown and green of trees dancing idly in the wind. It was much to admire and yet, he could still see his sister rolling in the leaves, beckoning him forward. It seemed she was in no mood to admire the lights and colours around them.

Resigning to his fate, he too bounded forward, his paws shaky and unstable but eager all the same. Like his sister had, he bounded into the leaves, feeling them crunch and fold beneath his paws, the softness of the grass below them a stark contrast. With a leap, he intended to tackle his sister so gently, toppling her once more into the leaf litter. He grabbed one of the leaves, a large almost star-shaped one and tasted the grittiness of it, growling and shaking it as he backed up in an effort to lure his sister into a tug-o-war.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
