Paws slinked forward as he moves silently, still young, yet life with only his brother had hardened the youth. He knew that silence was needed to catch a meal, and a foolish move meant that he would not feel the satisfaction of a full belly. For the longest he knew intimately the sharp pains of near starvation, embraced the sharp angles that came with malnourishment. He and his brother Alusion survived on scraps and the occasional rodent, an existence he was not particularly proud of but did derive some pleasure from it. They had survived where many failed. Even now he grew tall and would be a sight to reckon with as he matured. Muscles grew taunt as he flexed them, reveling in a sensation of strength for a moment before he continued his stalk.
Tongue comes out to moisten his nose, tasting the delicious scent of hare upon the air. It was neither stale nor fresh, and made him wonder if a burrow was nearby. Spring meant young and a young hare would be easy picking. He slices through the field of grass when a whine reaches his ears, causing them to perk at attention. The tone had a edge to it that was plaintive, beseeching, and he almost turned away, not seeking the audience of others. Especially when his brother might be lurking around, let him handle the situation for he only sought solitude for the moment. It was something he rarely got…well that and the prospect of not having to share a catch should he find the burrow.
However, the more he moved forward the more her perfume assaulted his sensitive nostrils. He had to fight the urge not to sneeze several times before finally breaking free of the sea of grass to find her. He stood several tree lengths away, his bewitching eyes staring into her own golden optics before moving down to caress her ivory bodice. He noted the way it turned to silvery gray and then bleed into a dark grey along her spine. Manners dictated that he speak, but he was a boy of little words, preferring to settle upon his haunches as he silently regarded her. Besides she was the one calling for company, he was just the fool whose subconscious found her call intriguing. Head tilts as if to ask her what now as his tail comes to rest straight out behind him.
