Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

goes the clock, we laughed at fate and mourned her, tick tock goes the clock even for the monster

Rejection was something she was used to receiving. No one wanted her and she accepted it. There were some things in life that she couldn’t change, and she didn’t bother to focus thinking on such things. She did really care what others thought of her. Yet for some reason she couldn’t understand just why he was so concerned about her approval of him. There wasn’t a creature on this Earth that she had any sort of approval with. Why should she? She never received any sort of approval from anyone else, so why would she have to start now? She didn’t understand imprints, never heard of such a thing. Yet when she would talk among others about the subject she was learning that this particular bond, a special one, was meant to bind two souls together. Yet she couldn’t help but scoff at the idea. A soul. Since when did she ever have a soul? Her soul, if she had one, was bleak, was small, was not meant to be locked and tied away in her heart or her mind. If she had a soul, it was just cursed. It would seem that Fate would once again curse her, forever to be stuck with a brute that was nowhere near her equal. To think that just because they were imprints, they were allowed to be mates was truly laughable. Not just because it was him, but because she could never have a mate to begin with. She wasn’t made to have a mate, she wasn’t allowed to have something good happen in her life. The cursed mark was a cursed mark, and having it since the day she was born, she grew to accept it. Not once did she wish or dream to be in a pack, to have a mate and raise a few pups. That was something unattainable and she would not allow herself to fall down that miserable path.

“And what happens if others don’t want to be strong for a change? What if they want someone else to be?”

Her ebony frame would turn around sharply, amethyst eyes narrowed as she glared at him. Her grey trimmed ears were laced backwards as her hackles rose once more. She had been walking a little bit too hard, her paws slamming into the ground in her angered pace. Blood once more trickled down from her half-healed shoulder. As she snapped her teeth at him she growled in disgust when he would step away from her, his body bending into a submissive state. Frustrated she stalked him slowly and snapped at him once more not caring if she couldn’t truly sink her teeth in him or not. She craved to have someone like her. She had been alone for so long, stubborn and uncaring, and there was a small part of her that wished she could just lean on someone else for a change. If he wanted to be her companion then he needed to start acting it. As he tried to explain to her that he was happy being weak, that this was something he could not change she couldn’t help, but scoff. Annoyed she turned away from him shaking her head violently. She couldn’t understand, she couldn’t cope with what he wanted. She could feel something inside her tearing up, more so than usual. She needed to hurt him, she needed to get rid of him all to keep her sanity and keep herself from be surrounded by weak souls. But then again, she felt what his desires were, he wanted her around him, he wanted her and she couldn’t understand just why. Once again those instincts kicked in and they were slowly going into overdrive due to his desire for a mate and a pup. Sapphire eyes glowered, there was a subtle flash of pain, emotional pain. He was offering her things she never felt before, things she never received, and it scared her deep down…but she was too stubborn and cruel to admit it. Her voice carried a haughty tune, lowered in a patronizing manner.

“Why would I want solace? Why would I want acceptance? What would I want love or mercy? I was given none of those things. If I haven’t had them before, why would I need them now?”

There she asked. Did Fate truly want her to be with someone that was her complete opposite? Why was Fate trying to correct her? Perhaps, Fate was wanting to improve him. He wasn’t living. He was being nothing more than a punching bag, and what kind of pathetic sap deserved that? He could be something better. He could actually become something more, if given the right push. She could give him nothing. She knew she couldn’t give him anything. If he continued acting the way he did, it would be difficult for her to cope with him. But then came the next question, was she supposed to change for him? No. At least, she didn’t think so. She didn’t ask for the soul attachment…thing. Curious and upset at the same time, she extended her own muzzle slowly towards his own muzzle offered to her. Murmuring softly, sapphire eyes looked into his icy blue ones, her ears pointed forward in inquisitiveness.

“Are you certain that as I am now, is what you need?”

Truly, she had no idea who was supposed to change for the other, or why Fate decided they had to be stuck with one another, as this thingamajig or imprint, or whatever it is called. Perhaps they didn’t need to change at all? Then again, they needed some sort of sign telling them just exactly what they were supposed to do.
