The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

MALE - TWO - NO LOVE - NO SOUL - DIVEEN

Her gaze of defiance, flavoured with a huge attitude only brought a slow chuckle past his dark lips. She was a spit fire, that was for sure, and someone Emry actually rather liked being around. Of course they were clashing heads now, as they had when they first met- but that didn't quite mean they wouldn't get along at some point. There was something about the small girl that simply egged Emry himself on. He wanted to poke, to prod- to roll her over and pin her down. To fuck with her simply for the sake of fucking with her- simply because she was she. Who that was exactly, he did not know, but would find out. After all, she had taken her portion of their prize home with her, wherever home was. There were various scents of others upon her pelt, an obvious pack wolf- but which one, the growing boy did not know. He had never been to any pack but his birth place of Diveen.

And then his last words are lighting a fire in her gaze, the fire he had wanted to see, and he's content to allow her the speech that shows just that. Her wine red gaze is aflame, the molten gold flecks swimming within simply livid. The words are gushing, and there seems to be no end to them. The black and silver boys smile is still stretched across his muzzle, though it dims ever so slightly with her continued rant. It seemed that he really had set her off, and Emry vaguely wondered when her whining- or so it seemed to him- would come to an end. She tried giving him a taste of his own medicine toward the end of her little speech, and he gave a scoff of laughter accomapnied with an eyeroll in response. She showed as much blatant arrogance as he did- but she did it out of anger and perhaps revenge, where as he did it out of entertainment and amusement. Because he wanted to, and he was in control- or so he had always convinced himself.

The boy is still watching her in silence as her feathers ruffle themselves before perhaps settling, and then just like that she's leaving. Or saying she is. As she turned and Emry watched her, he noted the stiffness in her movements, and the truly raggedy look she had to her. He didn't doubt that what she said was true- that the ground had truly swallowed her up, for that was how these very caves and tunnels were forumed. The soil beneath paw had shifted, and she had been unfortunate enough to be caught in the cross fire. Now she was paying for it, only to stumble upon himself, who wasn't making it any better for her. There was a conflicting thought then, that she might actually be hurting and he was being an asshole. But when was he anything but what he was? Frowning to himself, only because her back was turned and her gaze elsewhere, Emry was quick to follow her on massive paws, his muzzle angled downward and easily scouting the best footholds for him. The dim but ever growing light from up ahead did help.

He still hadn't spoken a word, but when he is just beside, albeit behind her left flank, his ever deepening voice gently rumbling in the air between them. "Much as I'd love to watch you walk away..." the tease is painfully obvious here in his voice- the boy simply cannot help himself. "you look like you could use.. something." He had meant to continue with his smoothe words and to offer her something useful, but when he thought about it.. there was nothing she would or could want. Especially from him. Of course from him. She wanted nothing to do with him- and for some reason, this pissed him off. But it didn't show on his features, which remained impassive, staring, though she would have to turn anyway to see him at all. As it were, he had simply fallen into step with her, his much larger paws falling with a soft but audible thuds against the ground below. She would probably not tolerate his closeness and try and get him to leave her be, but it would take a lot more than snappy and sarcastic words to drive him away.

So he kept up with her, not quite moving to her side simply because it was a tight space, and he was a rather big, and ever growing boy. He also didn't want to bump into her- the ruffled state of her fur, and subtle bumps on her frame told him she was quite battered and even bruised, and he didn't want to worsen any of it- even though he was more than content to play with her emotions and enjoy her reations. The boy was a paradox in himself, but he paid this fact no mind. Instead, he mind focused on the here and now, and right now they were nearing the very entrance he had entered by. After all, he had not gone far when she had run into him. The fresh air was crisp and tangy, refreshing after being within the confines of those walls- though he hadn't been one to dislike the tunnels, either. They were a mystery in themselves, and Emry was keen on unraveling them. But for now, his attentions, as well as his gaze, were focused on the girl at hand. He hadn't spoken again for some time- even if she had responded or tried to get him to go away, mainly because he had to go the same way to get out. But also because he didn't want to see her.. well he didn't want anything to happen to her. That was his job to make things happen.

"Will anyone be worried about you?" The question is sudden and so far off that it even has Emry snapping his jaw shut in surprise. He shouldn't have asked, or expressed concern- if anything she probably wouldn't believe him, or just throw it right back in his face. She seemed independent and more than capable of handling herself- even if she was small. Maybe she hadn't heard him, though, and this Emry played on. Acted indifferent to whatever her words may be, the sarcastic, smug expression back to play upon his features. He couldn't get soft now, no. Then where would he find his fun?
