Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Sorcier had been on the prowl for quite a while now, weaving about through the trees and shrubbery that littered the untouched wilderness of Taviora. The last light of the greatest star of their sky had lightly pooled it’s grace through the gaps of branches and leaves and other things before it swept through the grass. It was making the last of its rounds before the lunar stone seized its glory in the throne of the heavens blanketed in black above them. It wasn’t that time yet. The horizon bled colors of orange and purple, such contrasting colours that held a range of every other hue in between. The sun itself wasn’t blinding white like it would be in the afternoon, but now a more somber gold that was easy on weary eyes.

The scene itself was so breath taking, it could have held the young male captive if his jaws weren’t salivating uncontrollably from the scent of the deer that had aroused his suspicions that led him out this far in the first place. It wasn’t an hour to hunt now, but even if it were, Sorcier had this odd habit of just tormenting the deer with his mind games of chase. It was all in the good intentions of fun to him, but the deer probably didn’t quite see eye to eye with him on the subject. His gait was slown so that his paws gradually would tread across the earth even more resistant than the speed of a casual stroll. Keeping his head craned low, the ember windowed marbles of his eyes kept his sights focused dead ahead, glancing every now and then just for overcautious measures.

Just as he had crawled to the crown of a slope, the deer that he had been terrorizing had came into view. Lowering down onto his belly, his rear haunches were tucked to plant his rear paws into the soil beneath before his forelegs would soon follow suit. The playful manner soon returned to him, suggested by the slow sweeping of his thick tail as it would collect debris in the entanglement of straying hair follicles. Kneading in a rocking motion with his haunches, preparing himself to pounce and scare the remaining amount of daylight out of the poor thing, his paws dug deeper into the earth to shoot his weight into a sprint swift enough to not give away his spot just yet.

..However, the wolf tumbled into the shrubs not too far ahead of him in the midst of his leap—the sound of the wolf causing him to come to such an embarrassing fall instead of a mighty pounce. The obnoxious sound of leaves rustling and branches snapping underneath of him from the fall left the deer to take off once again into a direction unseen by the male. Peering his head out from the foliage, the male sighed softly through his nostrils before pushing himself up to a stand and rustling his coat out to remove whatever debris had collected this time. The dirt weighed on the glamor of the male’s coat, but it wasn’t often that he would boast his coat of the justice it deserved.

Hearing another call, one of confusion.. one of misplacement, Sorcier’s ears came to a perk at the sound. It was soft, it was sweet—surely not belonging to a male. However, Sorcier decided not to jump to conclusions this time—he made a terrible mistake in assuming genders when he first arrived to Taviora and decided it would be best to save him from further mockery. Heading into the direction of the howl that he heard earlier, which seemed to also be the source of the voice that called, Sorcier kept his approach slow as he would not wish to startle this company.. and called out in return.

“Stranger, I come in gentle intentions. My name is Sorcier, is there something wrong..?”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
