Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

The season of spring brought many things, even as it was nearing its end. Sorcier remembered how fleeting he was when he made his arrival in Taviora, how the unsettling anticipation of acceptance was right at the tip of his snout. Spring brought him the change of his role amongst his peers, how he was no longer a drifter, a gypsy of sorts that searched throughout the vast world of Moladion, and he had finally found his place amongst the pack of Coszcotl, the pack of Taviora. Through the other pack members, he would be able to continue furthering his knowledge in the life of healing and medicine, and perhaps later on in his years, he would be able to independently offer his services or have others seek him out for the aid others would be in need of.

These thoughts drifted off to one of the wolves who had made it all possible; Sen. Sen was amongst the highest ranking healers in the pack, being second only to the Shaman. Sorcier had never witnessed Sen in the midst of his work, though the male dared not to intrude on personal, fragile affairs. The wolf was an expert at keeping himself away when the company may or may not have been appropriate. Today, however, this was something different. Today, spring brought change again, it brought the start of something new entirely. He knew what was to be expected today for Sen and his mate Hush, a wolf that the male had not become acquainted with since his arrival. He wasn’t seeking to improve bonds or construct friendships of any of those sorts, but simply to offer his blessing at the presence of new life.

He hadn’t a clue what to say, exactly, because it was an experience that was foreign and surreal to him. He had never had a mate or a female companion of any nature for the matter. It was a courtship that the male was a stranger to, but regardless of being so estranged, he would not miss such an opportunity to at least offer the newborns a greeting, even though they would probably never remember this moment as they had aged. However, he would not let this trouble him in the slightest.

The way to the den wasn’t too difficult for him to come across. To be quite honest, there was only a few that were close to the outskirts of the territory lines specific to Taviora. It was just a matter of him pausing for a moment when a gentle breeze had made it’s passing, angling his muzzle upward, and allowing the plethora of scents to fill his nostrils and be labeled in his memory. The smell of the male was one that was particular, one that was undeniable to mistake. Every wolf had their own scent that was particular to their own being, and since Sen was one of the only few that he was familiar with, it was easy for him to figure. The scent was still strong though it lingered briefly.. but Sorcier decided to follow it anyway. It was only a matter of time that, upon stumbling a secluded den in the forests, that the cries of a newborn pierced the silent air. With perked ears and another quick waft of the air, he knew he had come across the right place.

Slowly approaching the entrance, Sorcier cleared his throat before emitting a low growl just so that his presence could, and would, be acknowledged as he peered into the mouth of the den with only his head at first. The fire of his eyes scanned the surroundings, taking in the sight of Sen who had his back turned to Sorcier at the moment, though he took no negative notions out of it. Though, off to the side, the form of another wolf had taken his attention. The female was beautiful, if he was allowed to say such things. Her coat was a blend of russet, something that held no distinguishing marks but a blend of tones that were very easy on his eyes. Even despite the fact that he had come the moment she was finished with the birthing process, it was something he never would have guessed if he simply had met her on any other day. The pair were perfect, complimenting one another in all of their aesthetic glory.

The sight of their pups were also something of another wonder. One had taken the image of Sen almost to a perfect tee, aside from the brown that washed over his paws. The other was a bit more elaborate. The majority of her coat was russet, though each follicle seemed to be dipped in gold, just like the back of her ears. The female pup took after both of her parents, and ultimately, captivated their beauty as a whole. The male pup took mostly after his father in all the magnificence that could be, and consequently—both pups were quite the sight to see. Sorcier’s blackened lips pulled into the small smile, and gave a nod to all of them at once before allowing his piercing, deepened voice echo through the den’s walls—

“I’m sorry if I intruded.. but they are absolutely beautiful..”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
