The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Nord continued to peer into the darkness, unaware that he was not alone here. He did want to explore this place, but he was well aware of the danger. These caves were new and uncharted, and he didn't trust himself to remember the way back. There had been a few caves in his old home, but they were shallow and a lot brighter than this cave. Aside from that, he had only been a pup then, and had been kept under careful watch by his mother and the other members of his pack. Nord sighed sadly as he remembered his family, and his pack... Sometimes he wondered why it was him who had survived and nobody else. His ocean blue eyes narrowed. No. He wouldn't dwell on the past any longer. He had to be strong, and carry on his pack's legacy. And as sure as the sun rose in the morning, Nord was sure they had joined the rest of the spirits in the sky, and they were watching down on him. Were they proud of him?

The lanky wolf was snapped out of his thoughts by another bark resounding in the cave. His heart seized in his chest, almost out of instinct, but he calmed himself with a few deep breaths. Nord knew that not everybody was out to hurt him, and aside from that, he was sure that this stranger wouldn't have let himself be known if he was planning on attacking him. He found himself able to breathe again at that logical thought, and felt a bit more confident. Now he was getting the hang of it! His tail gave a few small waves and he turned around to face the stranger, though he was almost impossible to see in the darkness.

The question wasn't unexpected. Nord supposed he probably would have asked the same thing if he came across a stranger here. He wouldn't exactly say he had been planning on it, but... "Yeah, I was thinking about it..." Nord said with a tilt of his head, his eyes still straining to make out the form of the other in the dark. The stranger seemed friendly enough, and around his age too, a bit shorter though. His tail gave another small wave at the next declaration, and he found himself smiling despite himself.

"Okay! Sounds like a plan." Nord said with the hint of excitement in his voice. He paused for a moment. If they were going to be exploring a rather questionable cave together they may as well introduce themselves. "Uh... I'm Nord. What's your name?"
