Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Reian

Just as quick as the first two had shown, another is appearing. But this one- this one I know. He is the boy of night and stars, the one dusted by the heavens- a Dreamwalker, Father calls him. His name is Starfall, and while I have never known him or spoken to him, I know all about him. Being the daughter of the second highest ranked Healer had its perks, and unlike my brother and sister, I paid attention when he spoke of his tasks and duties. It wasn't that I was interested, really- I liked the sound of his voice, and the way he would talk about things. Words were interesting things to me, though I didn't feel the urge to use them half as much as others seemed to. Even the newcomers now before me use them, greeting one another as only family could. So that explained why they were here, but not who they were, exactly. After all- Starfall himself had come from the Diveen pack, his family and heritage unknown to me. Perhaps Father would know this. I'll ask him.

But for now, I am content to watch them in my usual silence. Perhaps they would not like my presence in their reunion of sorts, but I was here first, after all. Not that such petty childish thoughts matter to me. When my darkest violet gaze takes in all that satisfies me about the trio, I once more turn it upward and to the sky. They seem exceptionally bright tonight, and I am loathe to give my attention anywhere else. But then, of course, none other than my very own sister has to show up. I love Mireille and I love my entire family- but sometimes she just won't stop talking. She's loud, and brash, without any sort of filter- and while I admire this about her, there's also a part of me that wishes to show her the silent beauty in the world. But I don't know if that's possible, or if anyone else actually sees that. Maybe I'm just.. different. [Insert Fantastic Mr. Fox handmovements here.

She proves this to me when she comes over, glancing up as I do and asking me what it is. That she doesn't see anything but stars. With a soft smile on my beautiful, tender features, I turn to face her, my almost midnight toned eyes full of amusement and affection for my younger sister, though younger by only a few moments. "That's just it, 'Eille. It's just the stars." I say it with a certain satisfaction in my voice, as if that is all that is needed. And, truly, for me at least, it is. Perhaps not for her, but like I said- different. And then, simply because she is Mireille, she is quickly turning to the trio- and shouting out. My golden and creme painted ears twitch slightly at the sudden sharpness to it, as before the night had been so quiet, even the small group of others hushed in their voices. But my sister cannot help herself, and confidently strides toward them. For but a moment longer I remain in my spot, before reluctantly pushing myself upward and following behind her.

It isn't that I lack faith in my sister, it's more so that I'd rather not see her.. well. Slip up, I suppose. My sister is brash and sometimes impulsive, and I would rather not see any unkind words given from her or to her. My violet gaze with it's gradient of black around the pupil is slightly wide and with a curious light to it, my slender creme and golden skull tilting ever so slightly. The night is still calm around us, the barest hint of a breeze ruffling the almost feather like fur upon my chest. I say feather like because, thanks to dearest Mother, I have paintings of russet upon my feminine but strong and still growing chest. It is the only other colour I have on me beside what I got from my Father, and because each hair is only dipped in the colour it looks.. well, like feathers. At least that's what I think. Others, maybe not so much, but I digress. Mireille is adament in her questions, and I do not think she should talk of the others as if they are not there.. but this is her life to learn, not mine.

And then I notice her. She reminds me of a fragile bunny, one so young and scared in all their wits of what will come next. Dropping my muzzle low to the ground, I gaze quietly up at her, admiring the pale beauty of her pelt and the intense yellow gold of her gaze. She is the same height as me, and now I can tell that the first two are my exact age. The boy of russet, very much like my own Mother, is a bit bigger. And Starfall who is, of course, full grown now towers above us all. But this, I do not mind. In fact I mind none of it at the moment, and I find this a peculiar thing. It is not often I am given to the company of others, and when I do, it is a strange thing entirely. But with these two before me, and Starfall thrown in the midst.. I do not feel out of place. There is a warmth, a certain.. feeling I have when I glance upon the boy of red. But it is not him that I feel it toward or for, but rather.. what he holds. I do not know, but perhaps I will learn.

Regardless, there is reassurance in my gaze as it finds that of the pale female, my often unheard voice slipping forth in the distance between us, soft and tender, and oh so very feminine. "There is nothing to fear.." I speak to her, though I don't specify or go into further detail. It's not my way. And then, it seems, that the young one of entirely russet had not taken kindly to my sisters words. The way he speaks is.. as if he is above her, and this has a slight frown upon my features. I do not wish for ill intent between any one, especially visitors from a sister pack such as Diveen- but who am I to allow such.. negative things? He refers to Mireille as 'loud one' not once, or twice, but three times. He also mentions lucky, and myself- 'the one that hides,' though he says I will be not so lucky. I have a thought then, and slowly my mind begins to brings things together. Before I was going to settle whatever might be brewing between my sister and the red one, but I am distracted.

"Did they tell you that?" After I speak, I give a simple gesture with my dark gaze, glancing up to the sky above in meaning the stars themselves. But would he know that? I have never heard words or voices from them, as all others seem to talk, but I do.. feel them. Does he feel them, or does he hear them? I know Starfall has something to do with the stars himself, but what, I don't know. Perhaps they will tell me, or perhaps they will turn me away. The oldest seems kind, and he is part of my family after all- but the other two. The dark russet one. He seems.. entitled, and I want to know why.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
