The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Nord, similarly, had never been in such a place. He had never had any reason to risk his life in some dark, wet cave before- and to be honest, he really had no reason to be doing it now- but he supposed there had to be a first time for everything. He glanced over at the other, he seemed so confident and sure of himself, and the grey and white wolf had to admit he was a little jealous. He wished that he could be that way, uninhibited by his shyness and uncertainty. But that was not the way things were. And he was getting better. He hadn't even been an awful, stuttery mess this time! That was certainly an improvement from the way things were. He smiled a bit at the confident words, his own lanky body straightening up as the other boy shambled towards him. It was a little easier to see in the dark and at least he could make out the outline of the other wolf.

He introduced himself; Judas. At least he could put a name to the face now, er, what little of his face that he could actually see. Provided they made it out alive, Nord was sure that he'd be able to actually see what his acquaintance actually looked like... Admittedly, he was a bit nervous, but at least he wasn't exploring the cave alone. "Yeah, let's get going." he said, following behind the other. He didn't mind him going first, actually, he was quite grateful for it. Nord couldn't even see the ground in front of him. The echoes in the cave amplified each noise they made, giving it a very eerie atmosphere. Even the drips of water sounded like thunderclaps in the otherwise silent cave.

Nord, despite all of his nervousness, really did take joy in exploration and finding new places. He was just... a little more cautious, perhaps. He had never regarded that as a bad thing, though. Even his mentor had told him to be careful, and not to trust anyone he came across because they might eat him... Okay, so maybe that hadn't proven true at all. He really hadn't met anyone mean in Moladion, and he actually really liked it here. Maybe his mentor telling him not to talk to anyone else at such an impressionable age wasn't exactly a good thing... But at least he was sort of getting over it now.

Though he may have been a bit more nervous than excited, he had to admit that Judas's confidence was inspiring. His dark ears pricked forward at the question and he shook his head. "No. I've been in a few caves but... none of them were this dark or this deep." Nord said honestly, walking forward to stand next to the other. "And I take it that means you haven't either?"
