Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Part of Me

I travel beside this blackened fem but I am quickly growing less and less happy about it. Figures everyone and their mother would feel the same about me. I mean hell the only ones I seem to be able to find some form of solace in is my mother, father, Uno, Orion and that demon girl I met at the crags. SHE was nicer than almost every angel I had ever met, except maybe aunt Isola. I remain calm even as Malina states quite sarcastically that she is getting to do the fun job of following his trail. I honestly think she is looking at this all the wrong way. We are all doing a pointless job, he’s long gone, and father things he will come back because he had fed here before but would he really come back with so many of us here? I am not sure why so many did have to come, four I thought was already a large party, then that crashing mountain that was Devil’s son showed up and who knows who else. They just want a piece of the glory to attempt to shine half as bright. Well too bad they should have been on time like we all were.

I ignored her comment though letting my emerald eyes roam until she heard the sarcastic reply back. Did she not have a working mind? She was the Dark Angel I figured out of all the wolves she would be the one to understand this the most. If we are in a group it is not to say that we were any less likely to be harmed, but we would likely be more successful in killing Tobias. Why do I think they typically work alone? Because it seems we are all selfish creatures wishing to keep the glory to ourselves. Working together gets a lot more accomplished. <”One cannot hunt large prey on their own… Not even father in his prime could take down an adult caribou. Why would hunting Tobias prove to be any different than prey?” I ask attempting to keep the sarcasm nipping at my tones knowing that this situation is just going to spiral out of control as it had so many times.

I hold my tongue only because Saintly tells me to so often, yet it never helps perhaps if I am to defend myself to fight back it will be better. I can feel he is not happy with my choice of words and the spill from my maw without much for thought. I am simply tired of this. What I am surprised to hear though is a sigh, not irritated yet I am not sure what it is? Pity? Understanding? So far in my life I had received nothing but hate from my family. It had been most apparent with the hate in my elder Niece Zigzagel’s eyes. I listen to her and while I don’t agree about my father being… well as she put it an asshole I certainly can agree what she says about my half brother Azrael, perhaps one of the wolves who gives me the worst looks of them all.

I allow her to have her moment pause making sure she was done before she spoke again. I suddenly felt a bit more relatable as she finished her sentence stating that it was all she expected of me was to give her a hard time. Well… I guess we were both in agreement then sort of. I feel guilty the one time I should have held my tongue as Saintly asked it was finally to a wolf who understands where I am coming from.

”I-… I don’t blame you there I guess… I feel their scorn their eyes on me all the time, like I shouldn’t have existed. Azrael, Zigzagel what did I do to deserve their scorn? Is that how it is for you? At the very least… they aren’t your blood you can just leave, right?” I ask before hearing the soft rustle of branches the corners of my emerald and violet eyes catching something of the purest white. Great, just what we needed.

As always with my angelic family I learned to put on the perfect princess act, my form still stands in a clearly dignified position a pleasant mask on my visage. I have long since learned that it was better to be the one wearing the smile even if it was fake. Mother showed me that in a way, she was always smiling, always so kind. I don’t know how she does it and I doubt others give her the looks they give me as I wander through the pack lands.

I know an Isola child when I see one, but that does not mean I am any less on edge. Isola may be kind to me, but I know her daughter Sage is potentially one of the most biggotty children I know of hers. Just because Isola is gentle it does not mean all her kin are in kind…

He greets me kind enough I suppose at least there is no obvious malice in his tones as he greets us. Saintly is not pleased in my mind I know he is protective of me, he tells me to keep this mask but I know father does not trust the boy that stands before me, he does not keep it that big of a secret that he finds Solaris strange. A pleasant smile adorns my maw truly fitting the beauty of my form and coat despite how I really feel.

”Both are wrong in what, Nephew?” I ask as if he clearly had heard wrongly. Though as he continued in his speech I find my face fall and my eyes narrow slightly. He is strange… by all means and I am not sure if this is a good thing. My nearly pure night form steps forward as to get at better look over him. We are the same age, he is giant as it seems many tend to be in uncle Devil’s line.

”I am not saying all, Solaris, nearly it seems most have good masks. Perhaps not the children of Azrael, for surely no wrong has been done to me by many of them, yet your sister, your siblings are very different. The ones that think they have a chance to claw at the throne in any way necessary. And that would include you.” My voice is light, friendly and matter of fact, a harsh switch that turned as soon as I was exposed to my family. It wasn’t to say I didn’t agree to what he was saying. His mother was one of the few that seemed to accept me fully as her younger half sister, and while I have never been around many of my nieces and nephews from Azrael’s family I am certain that some hold some ill like their father did.

I allow him to touch my muzzle and I allow his words to set into me yet still I feel unrest, Saintly feels nervous. I know he chose to make a name for himself something most relatable to me. It was my goal in life to claw up and be greater than my father in skill and yet I look to Saintly and see something different. I take more after my father than may know just because I look like my mother didn’t mean I got her personality. I am not as experienced as my father as if to tell what it was that I should be nervous about. Perhaps he is clawing for his mother’s throne yet, though I must say I prefer this method over his brother Achilles just sitting around waiting to be handed it or his sister screaming bloody murder each season with the added siblings she receives.

He asks then what we are looking for, shouldn’t it be obvious? “I heard you were some sort of ambassador or something important here, shouldn’t you know exactly what we are here for? Does your King tell you nothing?” I say. Let Malina spell it out for him if she has too, we are assassins he should know damn well what and who we are after.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
