The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

It seemed perhaps they were a little crazy, between the two of them, to begin their adventure in the darkness. The floor was but a shadow, melting and merging into the walls and distance in front of them. Where sight failed them, however, it seemed their ears picked up on the slack; each foot step echoed out, indicating rather well the distance until the cave changed shapes or direction. He felt, honestly, a little silly having to walk so slow, and having to keep his head ducked in order to avoid any sudden jutting stone teeth. Whose idea had this been again? As they progressed, he checked over his shoulder every few steps to ensure they could still easily locate the exit, which now made itself known as an eerie glow in the distance. To think that the earth could open its maw whenever it so pleased. At least he wasn't being eaten alone.

"No, there's no caves like these by the sea. I've never seen one like it."

He shrugged, turning to the other as he spoke though eye contact had practically become obsolete in such darkness. Still, it felt right to at least try and connect with Nord even if physical ques were all but gone. He turned then back to the darkness, staring into the abyss before he released a short, deep bark; it bounced around in the hollows, echoing for some time before it died off into the stone. He cocked his head, his ears flicking forward as he waited, half expecting the echo to pick up once more and continue.

"How deep do you think this goes?"

He offered the question as he began to move deeper, brushing along side the male momentarily as a request to follow. It was like his mother taught him - physical, rather than verbal when it came to such things. Slowly, he plodded further and further, ducking his head beneath an outcrop and skimming his ears across the rough stone.

"Doesn't seem like there's anyone or anything down here... maybe we should explore somewhere else."

An off handed comment for he continued forward once more, twisting back to view the outside world's light before pausing if only for a second - what did Nord think? Was it worth adventuring deeper and deeper to find the source of the water drops? Or perhaps they'd be better off finding something new in the forests.
