It’s been a long time since I stopped convincing myself to feel a certain way. Surrounded by the dark and twisted forest, it is still easy to feel the salty breeze; to see the innocent stares of the others. The way they would stand, huddled together and whispering, every once and a while casting a look in our direction… just waiting. So trusting. But they never did understand. My stunning, free, wild domain is conquered. The lack of ache in my soul would surprise them, the naive citizens who fell when they lost their footing. But they never did understand. The swell of thunderous waves, echoing the dark heavens was my blue sky; the bloodied opponent was a mirage of coloured masterpiece; the scars of power ARE the only ones worth acquiring. It is what keeps our world on its feet: formidable. So, when my cliffs were no longer strong, I drew it from my own and did what was due to such a wondrous place: I took its spirit and essence and left my own mark on the cowards. I swore long ago that no weakness would ever find its way into me, that I would never serve one who did not earn their title. |
