Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

2 years - no mate - soul bound - taviora

It seemed as if Solaris could take a hint. The space she’d made between them met no contention and he seemed just as well off as before, going about his thoughts in privacy. This could work. A little bit of breathing room and she was okay; Suomi just couldn’t stomach all that touchy crap.

She also found it particularly hard to stomach all that stuffy “Angels and Demons” garbage. It was absolutely ridiculous, two different lines of wolves all hating each other for something as stupid as coat color... Absurd. Maybe it had started out differently, maybe there had been a core reason, but whatever it was, was long past by now. Did either side even remember what it was all about? Probably not. They were al just content with being self-righteous bigots.

Her thoughts on the subject were hardly relevant. Hell, the subject itself wasn’t even relevant. But...

It just.

Wouldn’t.

Die.

Though she had already put that subject to rest with a simple one-liner, Solaris apparently felt the need to say more. He must have really liked the sound of his own voice, or something. Someone that long-winded must or else they’d be living in a perpetual hell of their own making. She couldn’t help but feel that, in some way, Solaris was only perpetuating the very thing they were trying to brush under the leaves by giving it a name and story after she had very purposefully left such titles as “angels” or “demons” out of her words in the first place. But, whatever. The tiny girl from Iromar seemed to take it well with some declaration of friendship. Hopefully that topic would stay passe for the rest of the evening. Hopefully.

The wine-red eyes of the girl were careful to pass over her tall, inversed stalker from Diveen in such a way that it seemed like he wasn’t there - or, more accurately, like he was just another piece of the scenery - as she turned her attention to another whom approached the growing formation. The female from Spirane was prompt to greet them, leading in with that oh-so-cliche, ”I do hope I am not late.”

Was she late? Did it look like she was late? If she had been late, they wouldn’t be here at the edge of the pack lands, standing in the wind which was slowly picking up into a dull roar as the sky darkened. It wasn’t like they were spending the night right here - not when they had an entire forest to take shelter in. Suomi might have answered just that, but all the excitement of Roamin’s entrance quickly became the center of attention.

The ebon girl was in the middle of scolding the boy for crashing in with so much to say when she noticed a ghostly white and gray figure slide neatly into form beside Solaris, her wine-red eyes following his movements as she spoke to Roamin. The pale figure was of Taviora - Eden, as she could recall, though she only knew of him because he had been one of two pack wolves to accept her invitation to hunt. Other than that, she hardly knew the boy. An ear swiveled his way as he spoke to the girl, Lavender, from Spirane in that weird Latin she heard now and then, his words holding a slightly caustic tone and his eyes lit with a personal humor.

Suomi had heard the language several times before and could pick up on some of the most basic words, but Eden’s full translation was lost on her. From what she gathered, more by tone and expression, he was poking some fun at the girl. Probably for the same reason she had been about to. But, then again, maybe he had found something altogether different to laugh on. Whatever. He was having fun. Good for him.

At the sound of a growl, the ebon girl’s ears turned back in Solaris’ direction, her head following suit shortly after with a cock to her chin that suggested attitude. A growl rolled from her own throat, louder and its tone varied in pitch to, very clearly, mock and challenge Solaris’ disproval of her actions. What? Did he think growling at her was going to make her shy away in shame? Like she was supposed to find that intimidating, or persuading?

Hardly.

The dark girl from Glorall moved into place beside Suomi then, making comment on Roamin reminding her of her sister back home. Well, at least this chick seemed to get it. Roamin was, really, just a kid. Suomi was treating him like one, like she would treat any kid that came crashing into her party uninvited. And Roamin... Being that he was a Fletching, Suomi was pretty sure she had more experience with the little beast than Solaris and certainly more than anyone else present. It wasn’t like he hadn’t suffered her criticism before, and this wouldn’t be the last time. Criticism was something a kid had to get used to. Growing up sheltered from such a thing... Well, it just lead to weak wills and easily hurt feelings. She wouldn’t be part of such an upbringing.

But the Glorall wolf beside her introduced herself as Maradona. ”Suomi,” the Taviora girl replied with a nod in greeting, wanting to get her real name out there. Roamin’s nickname of “Suzy” was a bit informal and, though she didn’t exactly mind it, some people preferred to call their acquaintances by full titles. ”Suzy works, too.” Whatever. Suomi, Suzy... She’d go by either.

A whisper close by her ear caused both to flick back against her skull, though she didn’t turn her head toward the voice she was fast becoming familiar with. Solaris is quick to scold her for her annoyance with Roamin, ordering that she shouldn’t show such “disharmony” in front of their guest. As he was given to issue further instruction, Sue’s brows raised in mild disbelief. Just who did he think he was? Last time she checked, she was neither a Chaser or Runner. She was a Fletching, going on to be an Arrowhead - neither ranks he had hold over. It was hardly his place to be ordering her around. Hell, she didn’t even take order like that from Zeteri or Coza! Sure, she was inclined to indulge their requests more than ignore or disobey them, but they never just ordered her around. Probably because they knew she didn’t take that kind of approach very well. Solaris, though, would have to learn. If he wanted any sort of compliance from her, he’d have to ask. Even then, it would be a cold day in hell before she did anything beside be exactly who she was. It would take a stronger will than his to change that.

”Bite me, Solaris,” Suomi answered at full conversational volume, a smile pulling back her lips on the sassy words and tail waving lightly behind her as she turned to meet Solaris’ eyes defiantly. ”I invited these people here for a hunt, not a show.” Clearly, she had absolutely zero intentions of tiptoeing around her words and putting on heirs in the company of these strangers. And she didn’t expect any one of their visitors to, either.

She caught the tail end of her stalker’s blatant lie to Roamin then and it was enough to pull her away from Solaris for the moment, though she was more than willing to return to this disagreement whenever he liked. Her paws are quick to cross the small space separating her from Roam and the tall, silver and black wolf from Diveen, her head already shaking side to side before she opened her mouth to intervene.

”Oh, God, don’t tell him that,” Suomi says regarding the whole bit about eating twigs, though her eyes didn’t even touch on the tall brute. She instead stared directly at the peaches and cream boy, head tilted in feigned contemplation. ”Can’t you see how gullible he is? Roamin, don’t eat twigs. They’ll tear your intestines.” The last thing she needed was this little twerp dying because her asshole stalker gave him bad ideas. Roam was, even at two, far too young of mind to be suggesting such things. Especially considering he seemed to idolize the Diveen idiot. Really, did her cheeky shadow have so little knowledge about children? Or did she just have an unusual amount considering she’d spent the better part of months six to twelve practically raising two for her mother? Then... there were also her adopted siblings. Honestly, there was no shortage of pups in her life.

She wondered if Roam had even heard her, though, as Siren came bounding up to answer his call to friendship. Soon she was watching a very bubbly exchange between the Iromar girl and her fledgling Fletching, an impatient sort of quirk to her lips. For his own sake, she hoped he had listened to her. She was going to have to watch him for the next few days just to make sure.

Maradona’s words turned Suomi’s attention on the other dark girl and the tall Diveen boy, the words she charged him with causing a very amused smile to spread across her face and into her eyes. Yes, she could see herself liking this girl, even if she was bringing up that silly “Angel” shit again. Anyone who sassed her snarky stalker earned some respect from her, even if only a little. So long as Maradona remained so forthcoming with her jabs, this could be a thing. Friends, perhaps. Maybe. If she was so inclined.

But a few sharp squeaks and a sound of protest from Roamin quickly snapped her head back around, that domineering tone in his voice nearly promising trouble. Her eyes widened as she witnessed her Fletching charging at Eden with a bark. She watched as he gracelessly plummeted into the grass, her paws already on the move to dash in quickly over him. Seriously, what had possessed him to do that? Children could be so... ugh!

Suomi wedged her nose under the sprawled boy and gave him a hard, probably too hard, push to get back up on his feet. ”Would it kill you to try and stay on those clodhoppers of yours?” She chastised him. Really, Solaris? Still think it’s a good idea for him to be a part of the hunt? Nope. He wasn’t ready. Hence why he hadn’t been invited. But... Seeing as he was already present, and apparently making some sort of a girlfriend out of the little Iromar number, she wasn’t just going to kick him out of the pre-party. She wasn’t completely heartless. But no way in hell was the boy going on the trip tomorrow. He was just a liability. Honestly, she was taking a risk with Siren; she didn’t need to double that.

”Alright,” Suomi said loudly enough for everyone present to hear her - not that she had been keeping her voice down before - and straightened up from helping Roamin to his gangly bean poles. ”The wind’s picking up, so we’re moving this party to the woods.” Her tone was definitive, strong, and, oddly enough, relaxed. Much as her nerves had been on end earlier in anticipation, the full-on jump into such personalities was... comforting. Apart from Solaris, the rest seemed pretty at-ease with the way things were going. Really, they weren’t going horribly, and that’s all she could have asked for. It was time to take them into the forest, what would, no doubt, be a strange place for each of the outsiders. After all, there was no place quite like Taviora. Even the evergreens of the Enochra Woodland paled in comparison. She knew. She’d been there plenty.

The ebon girl gave Roamin another rough nudge toward the tree line, accepting no protest from him at the very least. She would be on his heels the moment he moved, even if it meant she had to make him go in the first place. Whether or not the others followed, well it wasn’t her place to demand obedience from them. Yes, this was her hunt. Yes, she had invited them here... But she wasn’t their nanny or mammy and wasn’t about push them around like a bunch of kids too. Really, if they wanted to be idiots and stick it out in the roaring valley winds, more power to them. She’d sleep comfortably on the pine bed in the mossy, overhanging shelter she’d scouted out for the troop earlier and meet up with their wind beaten asses in the morning.

Either way...

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
