Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

All thought of the impending hunt was washed aside as my attention was now equally divided between Ambrosia and the stranger who stalked us. When she made no response to my silent greeting, a dozen warning signals went off in my mind. Something was not quite right about this soiled wolfess that moved towards the woodland with us. Although we grew ever closer to the tree line, I knew that if we were to breach the forest it could either give us great favor or folly. If Ambrosia were my own kin, who I knew inside and out and she knew me just as well, we would be able to easily stick together and lose this female. But that was not the case. We had only met today, and I had no doubt in my mind that our follower would quickly separate us and carry out whatever meddlesome intentions she held.

When the shewolf snapped her jaws towards us, I knew my instincts were correct. We could not continue towards the forest. I slowed again, hackles bristling formidably. My lips curled back in warning, but I did not turn and return the empty strikes. I rose up, making myself appear larger and more of a competitor. To fight was not what I had set out to do today. I was not to teach this girl to fight, I was to teach her to hunt. Hopefully she would learn from this that not every confrontation required the use of one’s tooth to settle. Ever feeling optimistic, I hoped that this female would back down and not engage us any futher.

I did my best to keep both the stranger and Ambrosia in my peripheral vision while trying to make a decision on what should be done. But when Ambrosia stumbled, my head flicked towards her to make sure she had remained on her feet and I lost sight of the other for just a moment. Having ascertained that Ambrosia was still upright and uninjured I spun away from her to relocate the nameless wolf. In my heightened sense of duty to protect my young charge, I had expected the worst. But I found the shewolf simply standing, practically frozen to the spot. My bristled form leaned forward, shoulders pushing forward dominantly and tail turning upwards and curling towards the sky. I kept my eyes forward, glaring at this antagonistic wolf before us. I did not break my stare to glance back at Ambrosia; I hoped only that she would remain behind me until the situation was dispelled.
