aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Winter was nearing its death, the snow that fell now was mere drifting individual flakes rather than the flurries and blizzards that had reigned king for the last few dreary months. The clouds that gave birth to the snow blocked the sky and only a few rampart rays of brilliance escaped from the sky to litter light upon the earth. Hellene walked through the thin layer of snow, glad for once for the temperature. Though it was still cold enough for snow to fall, it was tolerable. A light cold. A hopeful cold that told of the coming Spring. Her destination was one of the rare clearings that was within the territory, where Magic had told her that she would holding the training lessons. Hellene’s main reason for going was to ensure that her two adopted pups had a good teacher when it came to fighting so that they could defend themselves in the future. But in truth, Hellene knew that she herself had much to learn. Her sister had been graced with smooth gaits, fighting prowess, and the skill of the hunt. Hellene for her part had been given an aptitude for learning, especially when it came to herb lore. What she lacked was grace and slyness, which greatly impaired her ability when it came to hunting or fighting. Though the chances that Magic could somehow fix her innate failure at grace, perhaps she could figure out some way to increase her skill her a little bit.

Magic’s howl breached the woods and Hellene smiled, knowing that her two offspring were no doubt hearing the call as she was. Hellene had told them that they needed to attend, that it was necessary. She could not wait to see their faces… When she finally reached the area, she saw that two other wolves were already present. One was one that she knew – her friend Chenzii. Hellene had heard rumors as of late that Chenzii’s mate had returned, and indeed the ess looked much revived. In the brute’s absence, her coat had turned dull and dry and her bodice had thinned. At least she looked happier now. Her lips turned upward into a smile, and Hellene rubbed first against Chenzii and then moved to Magic’s side, rubbing against her as well. Her honey eyes then turned toward the brute she had never met and though her first instinct was to raise her hackles, she stopped herself, noting that both Magic and Chenzii were relaxed. Slowly, she smiled at him, but it was only half of a smile – she was too weary of strangers now after the Prince of Malignant Felicity had stolen one of her pups from her. Though she was now safe and sound, Hellene would not trust anyone she didn’t know again.

Looking over his white pelt, she knew that she should at least try to be nice. “Hello. I’m Hellene. And you are?” Turning, she face the two femmes again. “Destan and Khaleesi should be along shortly. I hope you can train them better than I ever would be able to. I think Kalgalath’s daughter may be coming as well. She has gotten a bit restless lately.
