It is a shame so much land becomes developed over time,Katchaya. Thank you for the info about the state park; beautiful country! We are all campers in my family and my son-in-law loves to hike with his dog.I thought about my fawn Dane,Zsa Zsa getting eaten by a M.L. after I found the prints at the edge of my property in the mud - I still believe they were M.L. She looked just like a deer except for her long tail and I'm sure would have looked like a tasty meal! I lost my Zsa in August to cancer and my boy,Rambo is blue so does not look at all like a deer.My son-in-law's dog is a Ridgeback and looks like a mini-deer!But you are right, they certainly are like ghosts and the likelihood of running into one while hiking is slight. If it did happen I'm sure all of us would be thrilled. You were lucky to have grown up in such a beautiful area.I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you loved the mystery surrounding the big cat - I suspect that is what intrigues us all. It's like a long continuous novel with many chapters and we are waiting for the end - PROOF! Only "the end" will be just the beginning!
