So let your heart, sweetheart. be your compass when you're lost and you should follow it wherever it may go........
Glorious day! The sun was shining overhead and it was time for another adventure. Aviias burst from her temporary den in a torrent of dry moss and soft leaves into the daytime! The blinding light caused her to squint her eyes and wrinkle her face as she focused on the world outside her sleeping area. Wow! The change was so different! She pranced happily on her paws and darted back into the darkness of her den. She fell upon her bed of dried foliage and buried her face in her big, puppy paws. She couldn’t even tell that it was morning outside crouched here in her den. Her tail waved behind as she giggled and she squirmed, trying to resist the urge to go outside again.
She sneezed, and launched herself back outside her den.
“Daytime!” she announced to the world loudly. Even the birds silenced in shock at her exclamation. A wide grin stretched across her muzzle and she jumped 180 and darted back into the confines of the den. After the whirlwind of leave settled around her, she whispered in her best inside voice (which still wasn’t terribly quiet - just whispy),
“Nighttime.” She waited in the quiet for half a moment more before she exploded out to the world again.
”Good morning!” She sang. And, predictably, darted back into the den and wished,
“Good night.” Maybe if she did this enough, she’d live through so many days that she’d finally be an adult! But… did she really want to be an adult? Being a puppy was so much fun… She flinched into a high-headed laying position and she thought about the dilemma as she stared wide eyed at the back of the den. She wanted to be more useful! But… adults never
played. They were all so serious! She wanted to be able to play everyday for all time! Then it was settled. She nodded to herself definitely. She wouldn’t sleep ever again. After all, if she stayed away, it would always be the same day, and then she wouldn’t age. Thrilled with her knew idea, her tail wagged feverishly in delight.
