I DOOMED MYSELF WHEN I DARED TO TELL

Her mother had sent her here just as had been done with her half brother before her. Of course, her mother was less tolerant of her male children and probably figured Vorvolakas would be destined to join the bachelor stallions anyway. Her motives for sending Vetala here were less clear. Her father and half brother were here and Vetala didn’t really need the pale ghost anymore so perhaps that was motive enough. Vrykolakas had never been one to show any kind of affection, sentimentality or even try to offer explanations. She tolerated her children for as short a time as she possibly could; long enough for them to survive but no longer.

So here she was, a one year old filly standing lost amongst a sea of strangers; strange men as well might I add. She may not be mature yet but all it took was for one cruel soul to single her out in the crowd. She was not frightened however as any indications of fear had been stripped from her by her mother’s influence. That influence was not always a good thing.

She makes her way to the centre of the lagoon and sends out a sharp call for her father; Galaxy. Apparently she was his problem now though she felt she was more than capable of taking care of herself. She lowered her head idly to sniff and pick at the grass; impatiently waiting for her father to arrive.
