PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

YOU LEFT ME IN THE DARK

IMPAZIENZA

Impa was pleased that Daedra did not have plans to depart within the week. It was about time the mares who ascended the mountain admitted to how committed they intended to be to the herd. Maybe she should make it a habit to inquire about each new mare’s intentions during introductions. Where before Impa had stepped around the issue to avoid pressuring any newcomers, now it seemed smarter to be straightforward.

Impa could be blunt.

“Good,” she said, and smiled. “We could use mares like you on this mountain. My niece, Imp, also falls under that category, but she is young yet and bull-headed. Perhaps your presence will mature her more quickly.” Recently, it seemed as if the conversations Impa tried to have with the chestnut girl fell of deaf or uncaring ears. She was used to witnessing Imp’s juvenile behavior when it was directed at Jezibelle, but always before the girl had respected Impa, perhaps even revered her. The black, half-blind mare wasn’t sure she liked the change.

But that was a consideration for a different time. She laughed when her whip-thin companion gestured at her, and shook her head once. “Where you lack power, I’m sure you’d make up for in speed and endurance. Height and girth will only get a horse so far on the battlefield.”

And count for nothing when you’re on your belly beneath the trees.

The traitorous thought flashed through her and Impa stiffened. She had relaxed too long, let her thoughts spread away from Daedra and the present to spiral down a path she had no wish to take. “Excuse me,” she said, and stepped away from the mare. “It is good to meet you, Daedra. I must attend to some business I have left for far too long.” She hesitated, then pointed her nose further up the mountain and toward the left. “The others tend to gather on that side. The footing is less steep and the grazing better,” she said, subtly inviting the silver black mare to mingle with her new herdmates. “I look forward to seeing you again.” Impa dipped her head in a nod before she strode past Daedra and continued her descent.
