At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

She hadn’t really stopped moving since her journey to Moondown Shadows. Bree - despite her sore and tired paws - couldn’t have been happier. For once, she was actually useful to something. Striker, Moondown’s alpha, had been gracious and even though the sun had risen only a few times since her debut in the territory, the russet sweetheart already felt anchored to the place. Well, she supposed “anchored” wasn’t the proper word… no, more like attached. A smile flickered on her maw: they meant the same thing, this she knew, but their connotation was different and in this case the difference was between happiness and despair. It wasn’t as though she felt trapped - here she was, trotting up the graduated falls, a ways away from the pack after all.

A shimmering, red reflection slid over the rippling current as Bree made her way upstream. The dainty, light-footed lupine was looking for something. Moondown was rich in plants, but she still hadn’t found any true ferns - useful for respiratory problems. Well, at the moment she was quite content as all around there were leafy ferns, bordering the little cascading waterfall. Bree had come a good length to find them and wouldn’t leave with mediocre batches so the angelic girl continued onwards - nearly as insubstantial as her reflection.

Slender limbs, paws dotted white, picked their way over the slippery rocks. For a moment in between her fern gazing, Bree thought she had seen something move amidst the mossy trees; a second glance showed her nothing and the thought quickly vanished from her mind. How many times had others scoffed at her “naiveté”, insisted that she should be more careful. Well, its not like caution would make a huge different in Bree’s case. If somebody wanted to find her, they probably would whether she wanted it or not. In any case, the girl preferred to give others the benefit of the doubt - yes, she was foolishly trusting as another fault.

Yup! Those looked like they would do just fine. Moving with the kind of eagerness associated with hunting, Bree shot out of the water… a little too quickly for her level of athleticism.

Water splashed up her chin as she skidded ungracefully into the ground. A sharp pain zapped up the girl’s right foreleg, her hind paws scrabbling to find their bearing again. A tangle of skinny legs and luscious red fur, Bree finally righted herself. Briskly shaking the water from her now sodden fur, the wolfess hobbled - much less gracefully - over to the bush that had caused her whole escapade.

Assuming she was alone, Bree didn’t bother to fix her fur that stuck on end making her look much younger, as if she had just finished playing in the water (not falling in it). First, right paw dangling gingerly off the ground, she brushed the ferns with her delicate nose and felt a note of satisfaction. Grasping several stems and shaking them lose, Bree turned on three legs. It wasn’t that bad, just sore really: along with being genuinely kind, it was somewhat of a habit for her to take everything in stride. Complaining about something that was her own fault would just inconvenience others. Mouth full of leafy ferns, the russet girl limped back the way she had come - considerably slower now. A snort blew a few of the tendrils around her nose; pretty head shaking in exasperation, Bree ridiculed her own clumsiness. She’d always been… well, “challenged” athletically; sure she was slim and well structured, but not meant for anything physical really. Normally, she hadn’t been embarrassed by this, but after travelling with Senya for a good few days, the difference between them had thrown her pathetic coordination into high relief.

ooc: holy shiet sorry it sucks! I just couldn’t get a flow going for this one blahh
