He must give it to the girl, for now at least, that she is faster and a little stronger than expected. He cannot help but notice the faintest scents lacing her pelt, one's that would surely please his mate more so than he. Despite his mate's... affections for Tobias, he could not say such affections were passed onto him. Instead, he had grown quite bored of that male's particular interest in intruding wherever and whenever he chose to. Still, he cannot hold that against the girl - besides, there is no question that she would grow to be quite a force. Is it wrong to think of another so strategically? If she does indeed become a force, is it not a good idea to have such a force within Glorall? He thought so, and he doubted Caligula would think otherwise as it were. They practically thought as one.
He hears her around him, the faintest foot falls indicating her position as she chase continued. He knew that he would eventually need to give her the bone lest he wish to have her stop her restless moving but alas, children were so difficult to tire. He'd need to take it off her again, too, lest she get the idea that she somehow won over him. For now, he was content to at least win some of her favor so that he might better try and understand her. This girl, he figured, was not like the typical wolves he encountered, and she needed to be handled differently. For a while, he plays into her paws, loping closer to her and allowing her to have her way. It is when she leaps out at him that he decides to make his move. There is dominance in possession but there is dominance in, well, body language too.
As she leaped, he allowed the bone to slacken in his jaws, her own finding it and taking it from his clutches. In that moment, his tail arched over his rump as his jaws lunged, intending to firmly grasp at her nape, just as any wolf would grab a child. He did not intend to grab hard, but firmly enough that he might put her to a stop, a low growl rising in his throat as he did so. If he missed, he would still move to make eye contact, his eyes hardening on hers and remaining fixated until she changed her gaze. They had their games but now, he wanted to know the answers to his questions.
"You can keep bone," he begun, taking a step towards wherever the bone might be, be it her mouth or the soil, "if you stay still."
He paused then, allowing her the opportunity to decide. It seemed like a fair enough deal to him, particularly considering the circumstances - he was bigger, he could make the rules. Of course, she might be a little trickier than he anticipated. Perhaps she would merely find another but it was his hopes that he had done well enough to gain some favor. Keeping his eye contact firm, his head tilted, his lips pulling back into the faintest hint of a smile.
"Do you have a name?"
