Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Who’d have though such a strong reaction to come from a living corpse? Näkki was nearly blown over with excitement at the motion, having sparked some life into the looseness of his muscles. Her whole buddy reacted to the stretched growl, and she wondered if she pressed an ear to his chest, could she have felt the vibration of his vocal cords? Or was it only the air around him that whined in protest? At the same time… her fantasy of his detachment from the world cracked. She had realized then that she might have thought him almost above life – but such a notion was foolish, though she was sorry to have lost it.

His hazed eyes focused on Näkki again as the fur on his pelt rose in fine needles. His words touch her ears in a strange way. His whole family was in Iromar, did he not think they wanted him home? She supposed, however… he had left, and so a family might respect that that was what Wraith wanted to do. One thing was certain though… if they wanted Wraith to return, more work had to be done to turn him away from life and returned to his instinctual state – which Näkki was thinking was a carcass floating in the waters of the bloody mess Andras had been building. She supposed that she saw him as a walking carcass… or maybe a zombie that’d be happy sinking its teeth into the flesh of those living.

She could not respond his statement though, for she wouldn’t lie to him. At the moment, it was true, only she had come after him… but that didn’t mean she’d be the only one to pay him visits in the future. If he desired to be wanted by Iromar, then she’d show him that he was, but for now, she had no verbal rebuttal. So she only watched him until he managed to speak again.

A soft grin formed on her lips. Näkki watched his long legs for a moment as he began to sway away from her, wondering if she should follow. Her shoulders tensed in anxiety that he was leaving. Wraith! She still wanted to be next to him. She hadn’t had her fill of watching him yet. If she hadn’t though… why couldn’t she follow? She hadn’t gotten permission… Näkki relaxed the tension in her shoulders. She wanted to follow him, so she did. Her paw steps were light and she crossed through the snow without a sound as she began this adventure into Taviora. What would await a demon in a friendly wood?
