Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob Bowlesbrown thrasher

heard my first brown thrasher of the season this am.

What a gorgeous morning!
the water in the birdbath is frozen and there is frost on the car but the white-throated sparrows are singing their wonderful song in all directions

whoops from sandhill cranes to the northwest and the northeast

robin sitting at the top of the cedar, red breast glowing in the light of the rising sun, singing his heart out

turkey gobbling in the distance

juncos dancing in the brushpile

hairies and downies bickering with each other

blue jays yelling for their peanuts

meadowlark occasionally piercing the air with its lovely clear song

it's the kind of morning that makes you want to just stand for hours to take it all in
