The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The presence of the storm that ravaged outside of my cavern was only brought to my attention when this other wolf had came pattering in with dampened paws, ridding the water from her coat with a few shivers. It was then that the amethyst quartz for eyes had cast themselves over the female’s shoulder and out to the horizon, seeing nothing but darkened clouds and bleak conditions—if only the stranger knew that this was perhaps my favorite kind of weather. The occasional flashes of light that cracked the sky overhead briefly illuminated the stranger in full, as well as a certain extent of the bowels of the lair, though there wasn’t much to gain as her coat was practically of the same shade as her silhouette. What came to my surprise was the nature of her eyes, how hollowed out they have become, as if my dearly beloved darkness had seized the light from her core.

There wasn’t much that brought the two at odds, aside from our build. As much as one would envy her extremely petite frame and the manner that she had carried herself, I was at least capable of holding my own even for my age. Which, albeit considered, I still had much to grow so even if this bulkiness was something of amusement, my height would soon smooth out these folds. Seeing as she was treading this earth for a bit longer than I have, I could probably give the hag a run for her money when such a time came. However, just as the stranger had mentioned, there was no need for uncivility here, so I’ll save my bets for another time if the fates would have it so. I’d take this benign attempt of an encounter into account even if it were for the mocking manner that she had implied, as if condescending my reaction to an unknown intruder. Sincerely, I’d be willing to wager that she wouldn’t give the poor soul a second’s chance to realize their wrong if she were in the same situation.

Though, for the sake of however this may turn about, my hackles had settled to blend with the rest of my unmarred coat before both poise and jaw began to settle into a more civil suit. It was after the thunder had rattled the walls of this fissure, echoing deep into the belly of the earth, that my eerie belled voice sang a different tune, one almost like the hushed coo that the stranger had so endearingly spoke to me.

Well, I hope you can forgive me.. how may I be hospitable to a soaked, lost soul who stumbles into my home?
