The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

got a hole in my heart

The days had been getting longer and longer with each one that passed, winter was not here yet but already there was a breeze so cold that it cut to the very roots of one's fur. Between the soft underlay and the skin it would rest, taking a while to get warmer. Sam had been used to wandering, it had always been how he had worked and how he would work till the day he died. He hated packs, so much politics, so many toes to step on and normally the leaders did not take kindly to his... interesting behavour.... we'll leave it at that really. Today was much the same as it had been almost this very same day when all he had worked towards fell apart. Right before his very brilliant green eyes. As if ripped out from under his mismatched paws. He stands at the edge of one of the many cracks that had formed into caves the day the earth shook, looking back on the past few seasons he had been alone.

Yes, it had been like any other fall day that day, he had gone out hunting for them with a fierce hunger in his belly he'd been able to nab quiet a few hares and had started back to their den. Yes, he had been a one woman man back then, so it had only been her that he had eyes for. The trek hadn't been that long in the first place and he made good time on the way back home, paws had dug into the wet landscape as he'd come around the corner of a rock face and let the hares drop to the ground outside the den. His nose had taken in a deep whiff of air and found only staleness to it. Surprising how fast a scent fades once it no longer resides, eh? he'd poked his large head in and found the den empty. Not a single trace of her besides a small patch of fur towards the back of the den.

He had never claimed to 'own' her in any shape or form, but it had been a silent mutual agreement so to speak that she would be there, waiting for him. And now she was gone. He'd busied himself with cleaning up the hares thinking that maybe she'd gone out for a bit and was coming back later, but later came and went, a few more days came and went, the ground turned cold and frost began to form. He'd gone out searching nearly every day. Trying to find even a small scrap of her scent some where. Anywhere. But to no avail he found nothing. Not a thing. And so he'd given up, that small part of him that had remained loyal to her snapped and soon he'd gone on a binge of sorts...

He'd met with several women over the past two seasons but none of them had seemed worthy enough to him, none had struck him the same way that she had struck him, like a mallet to the heart she had taken him down. But this fall was different, this fall he had wandered less and less, gone back to different dens every night alone, something was up. He stared at the full moon as it rose over the landscape, watched it from the very edge of the Grotto's many entrances. He'd staked them out as of late and he's spotted her a few times, allowing her to have her fun while she still could. And tonight would be the night.

One paw after another he pushed his big frame into the hole, hunching his back so that he could fit well into the space without ripping fur from his back as he made his way into the heart of the mountain caves. With lumbering strides he moves, easily as if the hole in his heart wasn't actually there. He'd faked it for this long, he could fake it for the rest of his life if he had to. Her scent is strong here, thick and mixed with the scents of others. Others had enjoyed her, and she had enjoyed them. But not he. He enjoyed little these days. Thicker and thicker her smell wafted into his nose until a smile lit his face, dark and deadly, as he moves into the medium sized cavern. Just large enough for a good ol' fashion orgy.

"Hush Hush little Nammah," he says in a deep sing song voice, his claws now clicking against the hard rock surface as he moved into the darkness. Though there are many scents in and around the cavern, only one is strong enough to encourage him that she is alone "Samil has been waiting far to long, far to long indeed, you left me" yes.. there is a bit of pain to these words, a slight bit and at the end it tones out to a faint whisper of darkness as teeth grind against each other.
