PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Little Bird was almost too distracted by the number of horses passing by and those whom she watched father out. An ear flicked toward the chestnut at her side, an eye shifting to concentrate on her. So Imp had gone farther out, but she still seemed excited even though she met someone strange. In Little Bird's opinion, she would rather stay where she knew where normal was than go out and hope she would be surrounded by the right kind of horses. Still, the buckskin found herself bobbing her head lightly in agreement. Little Bird herself longed to meet others, but she was content with nature and the small herd on the mountain. Besides, if her mother came and Little Bird was gone, well, what would the mare do? The buckskin could guess that it was no easy feat to track down a horse in the Islands.

Her friend's question surprised her, making the yearling swing her head around and attempt to focus both eyes on the chestnut. At first Little Bird thought that Imp had somehow knew of her past and was trying to cleverly pry it out into the open, but she soon realized it was just a question. She turned her head back to its original state and breathed a sigh as silently as she could. The few seasons she had been with her mother were precious to the yearling, and it was also the only time she had been around stallions. But Imp was her friend, Little Bird was sure she could share some of her private memories to her, just as long as the buckskin's real name never came up.

"Yes," she said, hoping the silence had not stretched on for too long. "I was born on an island with tall grass and a hot sun, where my mother and I were bothered by a stallion. I don't really remember much of him expect that my mother would always drive him away." She fell silent and decided not to mention the night when the sky went wild, shooting light about and rumbling with displeasure. They had been with the other stallion for a night, maybe longer, and then they had swam to the main island. Little Bird spoke up again. "Did you drive away the strange stallion?" Although the buckskin deemed them both too young to do anything but run from a stallion, Imp was different and daring. It would be no surprise if she drove the stallion away and gained a proud story to tell everyone.
