At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

 Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice Her absence was felt like his soul had been ripped from his body – there was a hole where she had been. Where his love for her had been. And he did not know how to fill it. His daughter helped to curb his loneliness, but it was a different type of love that he was lacking. Not the father-daughter type of love, but rather a mate-mate type of love. What he assumed was a soulmate type of love. But then she had left him and he felt the type of pain he had been plagued by when Nika had left him all those years ago. Perhaps more than anything though, he had an unending amount of questions for her. Where had she gone? Had he done something wrong? Why did she leave? Had Cody returned? Did Zig not want love Kalgalath as she had loved Cody? Was he not enough? His emotions were full of contradictions and confusions. He was angry at her for leaving their daughter, Blayre. It was not far for any wolf to grow up without a proper mother figure, and life was so much better with a mother. They were caring and supportive, no matter what. And when he had saved and adopted Blayre and then confessed his Zig, he had thought that Blayre would grow up knowing the ease of life with two parents. But that was not to be. Though now that he thought of it, Zig had never agreed to be Blayre’s mother. She had slept in the den with him and Blayre, but she had never really bonded with the little one. So had it all be hopeful wishing? He was sad – he missed her. He missed feeling love for another and knowing they loved him in return. He missed having another at his side. And, as previously stated, he was confused. But there were no answers to his questions, none at all. And so the Alpha of Aurora Borealis wandered from his home to his favorite place in all of Blossom Forest – Staircase Falls. His muscles rippled as he carefully made his way up the escalade of boulders that let to its peak and allowed his orbs to drift over the cascades. Slowly, his lids closed and he inhaled deeply, enjoying the fresh, clean scent. His auds swiveled and enjoyed the soothing sounds of the water as it fell down layer upon layer of rock. It was slowing eroding it away and would constantly make a new path. It gave him hope that maybe someday, his own path would be clear. It gave him hope that this would not be the end of his path. That Zig’s departure would not be the end of him. Without opening a single lid, he moved toward the water’s edge until he slid in, a gasp escaping from his maw. With spring, it had melted, but it was still frigid. The cold water bit at his pelt but he rubbed his bodice against the rocks, cleaning it of whatever winter debris had lodged itself deep in his pelt.
