the wise wolf

She watches as his expression changes many different times. When she finally released the words, his listeners flitted this way and that, then were right back against his skull again. Her amber orbs slid down to watch his body language, hoping to grasp something from it because he was not speaking.. but before she could assess what was going on, movement caught her attention and she turned her portals back to his own again and watched with slight amusement as they waxed into an eclipsed moon each. His hackles rose, and she instantly tensed, unsure of what this meant. Did he hate her for it? Hate her for not telling him? Hate her for getting pregnant in the first place? A touch of poison was inserted into her brain then, for she felt anger spike at this. As if she could help from getting pregnant-- he was the one who was fooling around with her all the time (it quelled with what she thought next), then again she had gone along with it, even encouraged it, so it wasn't like she could say anything about it. The suspense was getting to the valkyrie now, though, and she shifted nervously on her haunches, remembering every so often to relax her shoulders, but her neck already hurt from how frigid she was at the moment. He breathes in sharply and Koh looks up once more after her watchers had wandered to his feet touching the dirt beneath him. And he returns her gaze this time, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. Kohaku hit her patience now, knowing that the news was not exactly the best thing to hear... after all she had not believed it hersel--Did you just say... Oh god. Her shoulders rolled back up again, tensing so quickly that it sent a cramp to her neck and she winced in pain from it. When she opened her eyes, he was swallowing. Was he nervous? Her head tilted at the idea that he was speechless. Or was he just grasping hurtful words-- no. She couldn't think like that. Oh Tor... she should have just told him as soon as she knew. She was going to be due soon. Not immediately, but she was definitely further along than halfway for her gestation. Wait... that's it? The first part of that sentence hit her like a battering ram. In fact, she visibly expressed it, losing her footing for just a second. She caught herself and closed her eyes tightly before reopenning them. That's all you have to say? Kohaku immediately came back to him, speaking in soft, begging tones. Whereas one might have held their body in a submissive position, Kohaku was Kohaku. She did not bow, even when she was in the face of trouble, or what she believed to be. Instead, she sat a little taller and allowed her eaves to press in his direction, getting ready to give her excuses, though she knew that they were the tools that only the incompetent wield as weapons. I know-- I should have told you; that's the reason why I've been so moody and it wasn't me ignoring you, far from it actually, I just-- The crimson and ebon colored brujo took a step towards her and she shut her mouth immediately with an audible click. I thought...I thought you were leaving me.

Silence. That's all that came after his sentence for a few moments. What was she doing? She was processing his words, reviewing the tone that they were in, and reviewing Nikandros's history, his appearance and everything that she knew him to be. He sounded like a child who had just learned that there would be no more cookies after dinner if homework was not completed. So here was her silence. Her utter bafflement at his lyricsAnd then a screech came out of her mouth in the form of the word Whaaat?! And not seconds later, LAUGHTER. Laughter bubbled from her insides, from the deepest part of her, and out into the open air. She trembled violently, bending over so as to not fall. She knew she shouldn't be cracking up in a situation like this, but she just couldn't help it. The white ess shut her mouth, hoping that this would quiet the sound, but it only built up inside of her until she had to let it out once more. A minute or two passed before she was done; tears were in her eyes and she shook them away, auds flickered backwards and her eyes wavered with guilt, though a smile stayed painted on her lips. She stood and closed the distance between the two of them so that she was right in front of him, her muzzle touching his own for a moment before another step was taken forward and she moved her head so that it bumped into Nikandros's softly. What the actual hell? She breathed softly and allowed her tassel to raise with playfulness. Why would I do that? After all it took to finally accept the fact that you actually wanted me and not anyone else? After all the loyalty you showed me even when I wasn't sure of it? After all that we've done? She chuckled and then pressed her chest up against his own, her head going to the side and curving around his nape in a sort of wolfish hug. As if I would shatter both our hearts. As if I would let anyone else have this. Idiot. She spoke louder then, but did not reveal her fears about what he might have thought of it. If he would've been annoyed with her, angry with her, or worse, disappointed in her. Such things did not need to be shared. Especially after all that she had just said aloud to him.
