New territories were always annoying to deal with. As a lupine, it was already hard enough to find satisfactory ranks in a pack, everyone wanting to be the alpha, to be the strongest and the best. That wasn't how this beast operated though. He wiggled his way into packs with ease, placing himself in exactly the position he needed to be, although it used to be a lot easier when he had a team behind him. Being a spy and holding your cover became much more difficult when you were left on your own. You need to be able to back up your story and history without outside help. No, Peii wasn't trying to get himself into any packs just yet. He needed to adjust to the entirety of the area first. He had to know every detail.
At the moment he had decided to take up a perch on the mountain. It allowed him a much better layout of the land, and interesting mix of rivers, forests, lakes and plateaus. It certainly was an extravagant place. Not that it mattered much as long as it was able to hold his interest. And so far, it hadn't. The most interesting thing he had encountered thus far was a particularly annoying eagle that had followed him for a stretch, mocking his amber and ash pelt that stood out like a sore thumb against the snow trodden backdrop. He silently ignored the bird and eventually the feathered nuisance had grown bored and carried on.
The great Russian eventually found himself a satisfactory spot that was considerably flat and even had a rotting log for him to bask on. He stretched his enormous self over the fallen tree, his large fiery body engulfing the entirety of it. He hadn't stopped to rest in a while, and at this point he was beginning to lose his overly calculated patience. Luckily enough, as if right on cue, a sound below him caught his attention and his ashen auds sprung to full attention. He had known there was another rummaging about along the mountain but they hadn't been interesting enough for him to pay enough attention to before. But now the beast below seemed to be fuming about something or another.
With a grunt the enormous lupine lifted his body from his stoop and strode over to the edge of his post to look down the expanse of the mountain. A crisp breeze wound through his nares, carrying the scent of the brute below. He was angry, very angry about something. He could see that his new counterpart had blood around his ivory maw and was favoring his shoulder. He watched with peaked interest as the fuming monster proceeded to rip a branch from a tree, create a deep trench by propelling himself forward and then stop dead, breathing fire from his every pore. Pompeii couldn't help but smile a bit at the new found entertainment. He decided it was time to investigate further and in one fluid, immense leap he was off his perch and down on the level of the white pelted male. He was at least 100 feet away still but he was close enough to be heard. He watched the other for a moment with his deep golden stare, he had not yet moved from his crouched landing position.He was easily able to tell the brute was brimming with electricity and ready to explode at any moment. He lightly cleared his throat before speaking in a calm, raspy monotone allowing his slight russian tongue to take hold.
"You look like you need to let off a bit of steam comrade"
