aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

After she swiped at him and spoke her overt threat, the brute finally came to, his lids slowly opening and closing, and then her maw opened just the slightest bit. When it did, Hellene sunk slower to the earth, hackles raising just the slightest bit. Her temper was inflamed and it would be difficult to abate. But then he coughed, and her ambers looked down at him, noting the pools of blood surrounding him. As his eyes closed shut, her auds swiveled forward, hearing his voice but just barely. …I wou… I would leave. Each of the brute’s breath was raspy and Hellene’s mother entered her head. All of her mother’s lessons, all that Hellene had been taught. And now, she was in Kalgalath’s honors and trusts. Not only was it Hellene’s job to protect the pack… but it was also her job to heal. Once more she poured her eyes over him, this time looking at him as an apothecary, as a healer. The wounds over his back were severe, his coat was soaked in his own blood that had poured from them. No doubt that he was anemic now, perhaps fatally so. And the burn upon his face? It would need to be treated… if not it could fester and rot. Especially in what it was covered in now, the dirt and mud of the terra. He needed to be cleaned and then treated. Lowering his haunches to the earth, she began going through the list of herbs that she could use. It was still early on with spring, meaning that what he had to work with was much depleted.

She was so caught up in thinking about healing that Hellene had totally forgotten about her patient until he spoke again. I pray Sanctuary, if only for a while. It is well known that the night brings dangers more lethal than myself. How well Hellene knew that, her thoughts immediately switching to focus upon the last terror that had plagued Aurora Borealis. Slitting her lids, she peered through the dense trees, but saw not. Glancing down at him she still had her doubts. Should she allow him sanctuary in the pack, that would no doubt mean that whatever devil was hunting him would track him to this pack. To her pups. She could feel his eyes boring into her and she could not look down, she had to rationally figure it out. What would Kalgalath do? He would want to help this stranger, no doubt. And even if he questioned the safety of it, how it would affect his daughter, Blayre… well any second guessing that Kalgalath had, Blayre would quickly overrule. She wanted peace in these lands even more badly than her father did.

As payment… anything you ask of me that is within my power, I will do it ten-fold. As you wish it. Silence entered between them and Hellene raised her eyes, noting the darkening of the sky above. It was time to make a choice… and if this was it, she was the only one here to make it. “You know, you are quite a fool to have gotten you into this situation. Now you are left to rely on others, others, might I say that you don’t even know. But you are lucky indeed that you came to this pack because my leader, Kalgalath… well you better get your dumb little ass inside and let me take a look at you. You are doubly luck in and of the fact that I am the resident healer here.” Her teeth bared and she grasped the brute’s scruff, just high enough to avoid the brute’s duel marks, and she started to drag him toward the boundary. To safety. “Who…the hell…did you piss off… to get… this done to you? And don’t… you know anything… about cleanliness? You are… a mess. I’m going to… be up… all… night working on you. Fool.” Growling as she tried to drag him into the pack, she clucked her tongue. He needed to be within the pack boundaries in order to be safe but dragging him would only get him dirtier. "As for... your proposition... I'll hold you too that... CAN'T YOU WALK?" Stopping to catch a breath, considering that he was much larger than she was, she clamped down just enough to let him know that she was serious. "And just a tip...if you come near either of my pups... I will absolutely kill you." Releasing her tight grip, she smiled before stepping back... they were over the boundary line.
