The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Nord, admittedly, was a bit nervous. If the earth had shook once... what would stop it from shaking again and plunging them even deeper into the earth? Nord shivered at the thought, but he tried to push it aside. After all, he was kind of having fun being a little reckless. It was rare that he ever acted without thinking, and had he thought about this he almost certainly would have turned tail and ran. Judas confirmed that he had never been in a cave such as this one either, and that didn't really make Nord feel any better. He frowned slightly, narrowing his eyes to try and make out the shape of the cave in the gloom, but it proved to be pretty much useless. The lanky male's ears pricked forwards as Judas let out a bark, the sound reverberating around the cave before dying out into the dark abyss that lay before them. "I don't know," Nord said truthfully. "Er, probably pretty deep, though."

He followed behind Judas after the male brushed past him, deeper into the cave. His lanky legs carried him on long, easy strides, and his paws tested the ground before he put his full weight on it. There was no such thing as being too careful, well, at least in this situation. Cautiousness had always paid off for the white and grey male, even though it did make him look a little weak sometimes. He didn't really mind it though. He was pretty sure that he had always been regarded as weak, even by his mentor. That was okay. He was used to others being stronger and braver than he was. But he thought that he was being pretty brave right now! Even if Judas was leading the way.

Nord's ears flicked forwards as Judas spoke, the words sounding strange in the cave. He thought a moment as Judas paused, twisting around to glance at the opening of the cave, merely a sliver of sunlight behind them at this point. "Y-You think so?" he said quizzically, tilting his head. He ducked past Judas and raised his head, sniffing the musky cave air. "You're right. It doesn't seem like anyone's even been in this cave before." A small shiver ran down his spine then, a reaction to a surprising draft of air drifting from further down in the cave. "I can feel a draft, though, I think." Nord said, turning around to face Judas though it didn't do much good.

"Maybe we should just go a little bit further...?"
