You gotta remember we are talking Indian Lake. When I say deep water I'm talking 6,7 maybe 8 feet and then structure or a sloping ledge up to lily pads or brush. They will hang there and some move up to shallower water but we fish the deeper water and pick up an occasional saugeye that way. Minnows with bobbers. I use a depth finder.
