Add to that a growling raccoon. I heard a raccoon at the metal bird feeder at midnight, and shone a flashlight at it on its tree branch. It eventually backed away as I kept looking to see if there were little ones with it. I never saw more than one pair of eyes, but in a minute or two low growling began at ground level, and continued intermittently for half an hour or so. Don't know whether it was warning the kids to stay in the tree, or expressing an attitude about feeder owners. Replies: There have been no replies.
