aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Winter is pretty nice, I don’t like it for the same reasons as you do though… I can’t really ‘blend’ in at all like you can; it’s kind of difficult for me you know? The faintest shadow of a smile appeared briefly upon his maw when she spoke but it was gone in the next instant, replaced by the stoic mask that so often covered his face. She laughed and he merely looked at her, arctics peering over her as he answered her questions with the dry versions of his history that were pertinent. Her own orbs widened at some of the more terrible details, and spoke only when he had become silent. Yes, your answer was… sufficient. So you’re going to be living in Moondown Shadows… That sounds pretty good, I don’t know much about the pack though, except that it was scarce of wolves. Maybe Aurora will have another strong alliance if it grows in numbers. He nodded – Kalgalath’s choice to make an ally with the new Alpha was a wise one, especially considering how good of a leader he already seemed to be. A soft chuckle arose from his maw. “Of course they will be strong. I’ll be there.” The egotistical comment was a soft and dry version of a joke for him…though he was trying, Aindreas had no good sense of humor.

The sky darkening, bringing with it a chill, he had risen and Leila had answered his desire in kind. Of course, just follow me Aindreas. She smiled and then began to follow her though the terra. Her steps were sure and she appeared to know the lands intimately. Aindreas followed her blindly, his steps quiet and smooth, not stepping upon a single dry leave or dead branch. He was every bit the ghost that he seemed to be, leaving no trace of his existence. The duo traveled in the fading light for only a short amount of time before she stopped, and Aindreas ceased his own motion. Before them was a grove of pines. This is pretty much the only place I could think of, and hey I can trust you. She crawled through a space in the trees, disappearing for a few moments before she returned, peering at him. Care to join me sweet heart? As her orange orbs glanced at his, he cocked his head and for the first time, looked at her as she was – a femme. She was not merely a lupine, another of his peers eking out a life upon the earth. Aindreas froze, realizing that he was seeing her as he had seen Genisys. Guilt and embarrassment warmed his veins and he broke his gaze from her and turned to leave.

How could he think of another as he had thought of Genisys? It marred his memories of her, of them. But then, there never truly had been a ’them’. Always there had been the game of beating around the bush, hidden secrets, unspoken words. Quiet anger, burning desire… but never had there been a ‘them’. She had left, as so many others had done, as Aindreas had the option to do now. It was not the first time he had presented with this situation, and it seemed that leaving, which had always been done to him, was now what he would do to others. He had left Serris – that had been the first. Was he now to leave his new friend, this femme who was now positioned behind him, just because there was the chance she could play at his heart strings?

He trembled gently and ever so slightly, his entire self becoming tightened enough to make the shaking barely visible. To stay or to leave? His cranium turned to look at her, his bodice following its path and he nodded. “It would be my honor.” He was larger than her and had to squeeze between the two trees, bending his lithely muscled form in order to fit. It was a small den but comfortable, so he sat against one tree. “Where were we?
