Now they were both bleeding, both injured. Birch's lips curled back from stained teeth as she stood, smirking as Ammit had done only moments before. Birch crouched down low, circling quickly around the creature. It fought to keep up, burdened by its heavy legs. Birch pounced, lashing out at the creature's face on one side, and then the other. Blinded by its own hot blood, the creature reared and roared. She lunged then, ripping again at the belly until it burst open. Shrieking, thrashing, Ammit fell to the ground. Birch dodged its front paws and latched her teeth around the creature's throat, gagging a bit at the rough texture in her mouth.
Finally, after several long moments, the beast fell silent. A hole opened beneath the body, sucking it down into the earth before closing once more. Birch flopped on the ground, trembling and lost in memories. |
