I scented him upon his immediate arrival to the grotto some time ago. Something was different about this male, I could tell just by his scent alone. When he was out, I would find my way to explore the place he resided. I found that this male sure had a habit of peeing all over the place, pointless really. I even scented a female with him from time to time, but she came and went, not important enough for me to investigate. But the male, yes I needed to know more about him. Out of the few wolves that called the caves their home, he was certainly the most aggressive in making it known he lived here. Come on buddy, sharing is caring.
My split gaze had only found him once, he was very elusive. He was a mixture of colors, the white and russet giving him away in the shadows. He was massive in size, a behemoth really. He moved silently enough, but with that much weight, he would not go unnoticed in this place where the slightest of sound was magnified and then reverberated back at you. Though, for all the need to rule this place he had, he sure didn't try to drive me or the others out. I had found him the easiest to steal prey from, with him being distracted by that female and what seemed to be a god complex in a way. He unknowingly and probably unwillingly had become my favorite resident in the caves. I'm sure he wasn't a dumb wolf, he more than likely knew someone was stealing his prey, but he would never find me unless I willingly gave myself up; that was if he even looked for me.
As I sat perched high atop my little tower, I scented him again. My nose flared as I pinpointed where he was in this system of caves that would play with your sense each and every chance they got. I rose from my spot and stretched my lithe and limper form out before finding my way back down to the floor. I'm kinda in the mood to go see just whats up with this guy. So with my silent grace of the shadows, I disappeared, the only sign I was here was my scent which I didn't care to hide.
I knew where he was hiding, it was actually quite obvious: Up high on a perch much like my own. I slid along the wall below him, making enough noise to let him no I was there, since I couldn't exactly call out to him. I exited the shadows, into the scarce lighting of the cave and looked up to him, my dual colored eyes locking with his toxic green eyes. I dipped my head in greeting and sat down, an invitation for him to come down and join me. I didn't worry that he'd attack me, sure he had brute strength, but I had knowledge and speed on my side to get me out of any sticky situation. My eyes seemed to shine compared to my dark body, they called out: come down and play.
