Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Return to Lunar Children

I could be a shadow

I had not wanted her to worry. I wanted to find our children while she rested, and yet it did ache me to be away from her. It is most important that I find them though, Sven and Heim. My nose cannot seem to pick up the exact trail. I am so worried, my blackened body shaking with fear. I never knew how hard it would be to raise children, how terrifying it is to not know where they are. Everchime and I both know that danger lurks in the shadows, and yet I try to be there in the shadows to ward them off...

In the end though, our children do not listen. They simply do not know of the fangs that can rip out their eyes. They do not believe that is may be real, despite my battered and beaten form. I whine softly, my ear dashing back as I hear someone approaching. I hope that it is one of my sons, coming to tell me it is ok and for me to take them home. I am still relieved though when I see the form of my light, glistening in the setting sun. She brings about a comfort and naturally my tag give a wag, despite it hanging low, and only the tip seems to move. I am so nervous about our children, and I know she can feel it. I hear her call my name, and I stand still as I await her arrival. I whine at the touch of her tongue upon my jaw, my own tongue reaching out to comfort her. It appears we both need each other, that she was so worried she had to come out and search with me.

I do feel bad that she had to come, that I was not good enough to keep track of all four children on my own. I think I am coming to understand the terrors my parents faced when the sky fell.

I feel her bury her face into my fur and I wish I had an answer to her. My words have started to come back, I have been talking to my children although not as well as most fathers. I gulp, whining again as I am unsure what exactly to do.

"We...must find. We find scent. Darkness...comes, we...must find," I say, my nose burying into her as I inhale her wondrous scent. It only drives me to find them, to gain more confidence and to not be so scared. I nudge her slightly, parting my form from her even though I wish to stay. Our children need us, and I will do my best to find the two that are missing.

"We go" I state, my nose falling to the ground as I begin to attempt to find the scent again. I know it is around here, somewhere, but I just cannot seem to find it. I throw my golden eye over to Everchime, hoping her nose is more successful than mine, but I will drive forward through the ferns and brush, searching...and I do not think I will ever stop.
