Georgie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a sad thing perhaps - vanity. Georgie had grown up amidst a wealth of good. She had known loving parents and kind den-mates (though no siblings of her own), and of course, regular, frequent suitors. Since the girl had first set paw out of her nest as no more than a pelt of fluff and eyes of liquid gold, she had been surrounded by admiration. Not just the admiration of the shallow and cold hearted. She’d known love from the kindest, most honest and most loyal of all kalaks. Nothing had ever been lacking… or she wouldn’t have known of what she was “missing” had it not been for the stories. Her breed was valued at its purest. They were unique, unequaled, gorgeously refined and intelligently cultured. At home, there wasn’t much store set on one’s “purity”. Yet it had been told that in far off lands a race of royals was akin to them - to Georgie specifically, they would whisper fondly, for one so luminous as she must be pure. Majestic material.
And maybe it was her vanity that pulled her to this concept. A smear of black ink on sparkling white stone, Georgie found herself allured by the idea. She loved her heritage, related or not, but it had always been from a distance. This was prominently why she was so able to leave them and suffer no gut wrenching pain. They were lovely, but they weren’t enough. How ironic was it, that the girl with a limitless heart, innocent soul and such sparkling charism was also greedy and vain? It would only hurt the femme more to know that her family would plead to excuse her inevitable failure. They would howl and scream in the most feral way: she was never taught the price of what she sought out, the true value of the intangible love! It was true, she hadn’t. A childhood of endless peace and constant reward was currently thrusting her down a slope with a vicious acceleration - maybe now was breakneck speed.
The sense of satisfaction rooted itself throughout Georgie’s core. It should have been weariness, or caution but the roots wrapped themselves in tendrils of her luscious pelt and ensnared her beating heart like one all knowing predator. Only two facts planted themselves in her untainted mind. Akuji, this stranger, was a veritable character from her childhood stories, and he had been left to choose his way.
It was in those horrific seconds that the scarlet she-wolf fell in love with the varg who presented himself in the form of some primeval wealth. Because, even amongst the worst of her greed, Georgie was not a simplistic seductress. Her heart would pay as fully as possible for one of her few faults. There was no escaping it for she didn’t know how to love half-heartedly.
I don’t mean to be a burden, Akuji, Set upon her face like jewels, brown eyes melted softly. Letting down her plight for independence in this strange place, Georgie looked downward as she asked her favour. But I’ve no idea where to find shelter in these lands, and you’ve been so wonderfully helpful I’m afraid I’m taking advantage of your kindness by asking if you might point me in the right direction.
