Why did everything I do worry my mother? The second I walked in, I could sense she was worried, though she did hide it fairly well. "You are not with your father.” She stated, but I heard the questioning tone beneath it. I stared at her for a second, before nodding. "No, because he brought Enya and Ravenna with him," was all I said. Even she had to see that I disliked my siblings. Maybe if they left me alone and didn't act like brats all the time, I might be able to put up with them. But until that happened, I was going to avoid them at all costs, even if that meant spending a day with my mother; which, truthfully, I didn't mind all too much, it let me practice my hunting.
I quickly started cleaning myself, getting rid of all the filth that tainted my fur. Then, before I could react, my mom had moved her vole aside and grabbed me by my scruff. I grunted in discontent, before she set me down between her paws, trapping me. Her tongue ran all around my body, cleaning me off. I groaned in complaint. "mom," I complained, looking up at her with eyes that said I was more than capable of cleaning myself. When she finally finished and loosened her grip on me, I popped up and scurried out of her paws, thankful that I was clean, but a bit grumpy that she had done that.
“It is a lovely gift son.” she says as she begins to eat the small rodent. I puff out with pride, my blue eyes holding a sparkle they didn't have before. She inspected the vole and I stared at her curiously. “Tell me son, what do you know of hunting?” Again I heard the worried tone in her voice hidden away. Why was she so worried about me? She should be more worried about my reckless sisters, I, atleast, had a sound head on my shoulders. I tried to be productive and learn things to make me stronger for when I was an adult, they on the other hand only goofed around.
"I have learned what I know from father and from practicing on small things every chance I get. I know that you need to be really quiet and quick on your feet. Dad told me that you need to be upwind from the prey so it doesn't smell you. I also know you need to be careful, because sometimes the prey won't run and will fight back." I said, letting her in on all I know about hunting so far. Bet my sisters didn't know that.
When she finished her meal, and cleans herself (good), she quickly pulls me back into her. I sigh and give up give in to her wanting me to be close, cuddling up close to her as she puts her head on her paws. "Tell me about your day. Just as well thank you," she adds and I nod my head. "Well now that Enya and Ravenna aren't here to try and pick on me, it's been better. I got to practice hunting and actually caught a vole. One day, i'm going to be the best hunter in Glorall, you'll see mom," I said, letting her into the desires in my heart. After all, she was my mom. And while I wasn't the most affectionate son, I did love her.
