Ever since she had met him, really, she had always felt happy around him. How could she not? Even when they were doing nothing, they had fun. The two of them going somewhere new together was, well, new but really, it simply added to the excitement that had already been there to start with. He could have just been walking her back to her den and it would have been fun for her. Of course, leaping down further towards the darkness certainly trumped a leisurely walk anywhere and she certainly let it be known. Her tail bounced and waved behind her as she met beside Sinclair's flank, facing him with a challenging expression. It was about time they started to get a move on! She kept close to him as they crept towards the shadows, sniffing wearily into the chasm as they entered its maw. It smelt like much of the Crags, truly: wet stone, dirt and stale air that drifted out from somewhere deep within its belly. As far as she could tell, it didn't seem all that scary. In fact, it just seemed to look rather ominous which gave her a false sense of confidence. She could face it easily! It smelt just like the rest of the world so it likely was just like it. Her stride quickly turned into something a little more proud, almost a bouncing, prancing motion. "Dark? Hah! If you get scared, don't worry too much. I'm used to the dark." She flashed him a grin, broad and toothy before the shadows began to eat away at their forms. It wasn't long before they were in almost complete darkness, and she felt... weary, she supposed. It was a darkness that was thicker and more endless than a moonless night. The only thing that made her positive that she wasn't alone was the warmth from Sinclair and his steady breath. It seemed like forever that they moved in silence until something ahead skittered across the stone floor. Then, a splash! She paused for a moment, sucking in the cool air as her eyes widened in definitely-not-fear. Hear that? She shot Sinclair a look of concern, nodding slowly in the faintest of lights before she suddenly charged into him. She pushed up against him, her head on his shoulder as she stared into the darkness. "I heard it... but I don't think I want it to hear us." She whispered, so quietly as she contemplated what horrible creature could live in such a place. Unbeknownst to her, that creature was but a mere rock, now sitting peacefully at the bottom of the caverns. |
