FROM THE OCEAN SHE RISES Zhenya

The forest is alive with the sounds and smells of spring. Birds chirp cheerily in the morning light which bathes the inhabitants below in a soft glow. Jörmungandr is in her usual spot, overlooking the goings on of the herd while grazing quietly. Her pale son, Joukahainen, is by her hip, mooching around the flowers at their hooves. It is a peaceful morning, though, giving her son a sidelong glance, she wonders how long that peace will last. Despite a little lingering weakness, Joukahainen is every bit the energetic, adventurous foal she imagined she'd have. She might think him a handful, but she had been worse at his age. Being a parent is hard work. She wouldn't change it.

She has been too occupied with her son lately and scanning the herd, her blue eyes settle on a mostly unfamiliar mare. She has seen the other woman around and knew who she was from Lyden but they had not had a chance to speak yet. She lifts her head, her jaw set in determination. That will be corrected.

Placing a light nip on Joukahainen's shoulder to attract his attention from the flowers, she picks up an easy walk towards the golden tobiano mare. Joukahainen falls in at her side, his muzzle pressed lightly to her back leg with his pale blue eye takes in the mare they were approaching. He doesn't know this one. As his mother nickers to the mare and halts, he shifts to the opposite side to keep her in his good eye. The torqouise blind eyes stares off into the distance, seeing only darkness.

Jörmungandr addresses the mare as she draws up, "You are Zhenya, yes?" she asks with a hint of a norse accent, knowing the answer and reaching fowards to exchange formal breaths with the woman. "I am Jörmungandr. I feel it is about time we get to know one another". While she does not overtly display any signs of domaninance, her authority is cannot be mistaken. Joukahainen peeks round at the tricolour mare, wondering what who she is and if she will be fun.
