The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Darkness seemed to follow the young wolfess around where ever she went. Even now as she moved towards the caves a dark mass of clouds pursued her. Within a few moments, she was running from the rain as it tried to soak her pelt to the bone. Every now and then the sky would rumble with thunder, only causing Gaia to move swifter. Her gimp back legs grew tired and sore after running so long, but the child didn't stop. There were many things in this world that would cause a pup to be frightened and in the ginger wolf's case it was thunderstorms. Now that spring was here the land needed the rain and the sky was only too willing to help. For three years she knew that each time winter was over, the rains would come and sometimes the thunder and even the lightning.

It was as these times that she missed her parents the most. What she wouldn't give to wrap herself around Mom or to hear Dad tell her she would be safe. Cae would be there too, always watching and protecting. Lucero would be there too. She may not know much about her youngest sibling, but she still saw him in the family she remembered from long ago.

There was a sudden flash of white followed almost immediately with a crack of thunder that shook the earth. Gaia barked nervously and continued her trek until she found the caves. The darkness of the caves was still far scarier than the darkness in the sky and Gaia continued to run until the faint scent of another made her pause. It was hard to see him through the thick sheet of rain, but her bi-colored eyes soon pin pointed the male sitting under an overhang. It looked dry, but was it safe?

With timid steps, Gaia moved towards the wolf. She could see he was mostly black and white and his eyes seemed to glow like embers in the storm. She wasn't sure if he had seen her yet which may give her the advantage she needed if she did have to bolt. Still standing outside in the rain, the young wolfess gave a short bark to get his attention.
"Excuse me, is there room under there for another wolf? I don't take up much room and I am awfully cold and wet."
