Now, the ground hardly seemed to change even when she placed her paws atop it. Grass, for instance, separated and became quite plush but this new ground proved to be infinitely solid. It was warm to the touch, too - an even stranger discovery as she pulled her paws away with a huff. As far as she could see up the incline, the new ground did not seem to change all that much; it became jagged in some areas, but the material seemed the same. Perhaps her mother or father would have the answers but alas, there was no fun in discovering those with such ease. Would they even allow her to know, knowing that she had slipped away from their care to see this new place?

Her pondering was quickly interrupted by the voice of another, calling down from where he stood above her. Her eyes instantly moved to him, frowning as she noted that he was on the unusual ground seemingly without the same problems she had experienced prior. Curious, she looked down to his paws and then down to hers. As he approached, she was able to note the more hard looking nature of his paw pads. Hers, on the other hand, were tender and often ached after too long away from the den. Was that the missing piece? With a flick of her ears, she turned back to him as he halted before her.

"I am attempting to understand this unusual surface."

She spoke matter of fact-ly, her lips somewhat taut as she glance to the stone floor he stood upon. Wearily, she leaned over it and sniffed at his paws, observing no significant change in scent besides his own personal one. He smelt of the mountain, and perhaps more of dirt but nothing that explained how he could walk across it so easily.

"You've walked on it. Tell me - what makes it difference between where I stand -" she motioned down to the grass, then back to him, "and where you stand?"
