The prince tossed his head in surprise when the mare splashed water at him, the cool drops shimmering now on his chest and legs where they had landed. With a snort he gave her a playful glare, his smirk giving away that he wasn’t really mad. But as the mare pushed off into a gallop the young stallion quickly followed. Body lurching forward, his hind hooves digging into the soft group he sprang after her.
Muscles coiled and released beneath the young stallion’s two toned coat as he raced after her, stretching as far as they could as he lengthened his stride to eat up the ground. Dirt and leaves flew from his hooves as he pounded them into the ground as he rushed to catch up. With adrenaline pumping through his veins and his ears laced back against his poll with his muzzle jutted out as his body worked, it was not long before he caught up to the woman dressed in black.
Pulling up with her he raised his head and perked his ears forward before reaching over to grab at the flying tendrils of her mane. Should he grab one the young stallion would give a playful jerk before lunging forward with another powerful push. Blue eyes fixed on the trail that winded through the trees he stretched his body out once more but his ears remained forward now as he leaned with each turn, his hooves remembering each step from every time he had placed them on this very path.
Suddenly the trees broke away and Braylen thrust himself out onto the beach. The sudden space was disorienting for just a heartbeat before he turned to run down the sandy beach. The tug of the sand upon his hooves was much harder than the forest floor but the stallion didn’t care, his mind and body too wrapped up in the run that made his heart soar like wings on the spring breeze that tugged at his whipping mane and tail.
