 ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ When he had turned to leave, Athene had feared that he would truly disappear for all times into the darkness. That her call would not stop him… but then it did. His departure had been halted and he turned to face her, his bodice soon after hurling itself at hers at top speed. And when he touched her… embraced her… was against her it was as if the darkness disappeared. His perfume washed over her then and she whimpered, inhaling it deeply. His scent both soothed her and exhilarated her, calmed her and made her fearful. He was her future now, for that was the choice that she had thus made. He would be her future now, and the fact that she was not in charge of it herself was frightening. For it had always been her choices that led to her destiny, and it would be such no longer. But it was also freeing in a sense, that he would be there with her, for every step of the way. And the way he folded himself around her, engulfing her… for the first time, Athene knew what it was to feel whole. I thought you left… I wasn’t sure… you changed your mind. Athene could not possibly find rhymes nor words that could express the thoughts within her head. Instead she merely shook her head and smiled, pressing herself into his form, trying to make them meld together. She wishes that they were physically inseparable so that she would never again be far from his side, as illogical of a thought it is. But still her crazed thoughts continue on. If this moment never ended, it would be perfect. No other would affect their relationship. No other would ever be able to come between them. They would live and die together in this embrace… and that would be alright. That would be just fine. The ess does not move for long moments, choosing instead to inhale his stench anew, refamiliarizing herself with it until it is all she can smell, the only scent that her brains knows. Her sight is blinded by his pelt, but still she feels the sunlight raining down on her back, reminding her that she found the exit that they once had sought. This was where they had meant to end their adventures together. It was supposed to be a simple, exciting trip through the caverns. Instead, this would be their beginning. This would be the beginning of their life together, no doubt many more adventures would come their way. As perfect as it would be to stay here and just live and die, it was not acceptable. It would be a wasteful way for them to continue on, and their time together, though uninterrupted, would be shorter. They could not stay here. They had to move on. Slowly, regretfully, she backed away from him, pulling her cranium from his fur and squinted her eyes until her pupils adjusted to the brighter light of the sun. “So this is what we were meant to find, Instead this place was left behind. Full circle, indeed, we have finally come And with you, here with me, I feel my heart thrum. The staircase is something we now know how to find But exploration of this place if for another time assigned. A home, together, for just you and me Is now what we are meant to find, where we are meant to be.” A smile finally fell upon her lips and she stepped forward, nuzzling against him. She knew that he wanted to find what this place was and where it would lead, but they needed to commit themselves to a land, to secure themselves a den.
